Help. My cat got out.

Hey my cat got out 3 days ago and i've been every day going out and looking for him on day 1 in the middle of the night my dad seen him and thought he was one of the strays and scared him off the porch didn't see him again. day 2 seen him on the neighbors back porch and in my neighbor's shed i scared him by accident both times. day 3 haven't seen him at all. day 4 not seen him at all nor my neighbors

Have you tried banging a spoon on his canned cat food or shaking his treats as you walk around and call him? If he's getting hungry he may come.

Also get all neighbours to check their sheds! We once lost a kitty for a whole long weekend and she was locked in the neighbours shed. She survived but she was starving and very very dehydrated when we got her back.

Last but not least, try putting up some signs and checking all the local shelters. Is he microchipped at all?

I  know I'm new, but have you tried leaving out a piece of clothing your cat was fond of? Cat's are attracted to smell and maybe something that reminds him of home and you would help as well as a favorite toy. Music is also possible.  My cat is fond of Johnny Cash especially the song Hurt. My heart goes out to you.

I am sorry that your cat has gotten out.  Have you tried putting something with the cats scent on your front porch or near the door he escaped?  Others have luck with putting the litter box near the door too.  Have you made up fliers to pass out to your neighbors?  They can be a  great source of help.  Here are a few articles that discuss how to find a lost pet.
