Yes they are on antibiotics and fluids.

So if it was an infection wouldn't the first kitten be 'perking up'?

I don't know what to think but my husband is going to call up tomorrow and see what he can find out.

I have sad news.

At 3 a.m this morning, the vet rang me to tell me that kitten one had sadly passed away.

He said she seemed to perk up a little an hour or so beforehand. She was lifting her head and trying to play with the vet nurse when she checked on her.

Then, at 2. 45 a.m she started to have a seizure and sadly the medication they gave her to stop the siezure had the opposite effect and she took a final gasp and passed away.

I am absolutely heartbroken.

This little kitten  was a twin. An identical twin. I named them TwinJaun and Twintoo. Her twin is pining for her. She is looking everywhere for her and crying.

I have laid her with her other brothers and sister and am hoping she will settle.

I have been cuddling her all day today.

Kitten two, (named Flossy Grimelda) is not doing so well now either.

She IS eating and drinking and is on IV fluids and antibiotics. They are going to give her a scan in the morning to see if she has a blockage as she has watery diarrhea.

I am crossing everything that they can save her.

I do not think i can deal with this pain again.

I also don't think i can take in any more pregnant strays. It is too upsetting when these beautiful babies die.

RIP TwinJaun. I loved you so much in the 5 weeks and 6 days i knew you. You were a gorgeous little girl who made me laugh and smile.

Play hard at the bridge baby girl.

Foster mama loved you so very much.

This is very sad news, I know how devastating and painful it is.

Very strange to me just the same, that now the 2nd baby isn't doing well.

Do they think it's something else like maybe panleukopenia? (kitten parvo/distemper)

Flossy has also died.

The vet rang an hour ago.

Feeling extremely sad right now.

Do they have any idea what's going on? Are the others at risk?

Like Margd I have been following your thread and hoping for happier news.  How heart breaking for you and your husband.

Do you know, as talkingpeanut has asked, whether the vets know what is happening, and if their mother is OK?

RIP little Twinjaun and Flossy, may you run free and play together.

I am so sorry.  Often little kittens are so fragile, there was nothing you could have done to change the outcome.

The vet mentioned something about doing a necropsy but i was too upset to deal with him.

He is going to ring me back on monday.

He said he thinks the other kittens should be ok as none of them are showing any signs of illness.

all i can do is hope they don't get poorly.

Mum seems fine.

Thank you for all your kind words x

So sorry to hear this news.

It somehow isn't surprising to me when you said that the 2nd baby wasn't doing good recently, which is why I asked if you have parvo there.

I understand you're not wanting to think about a necropsy, but think I would really want an answer, an explanation as to what happened or what they died of illness-wise.

We are all here for support.

I'm so sorry.  I'd been reading your thread and honestly thought they would pull through.  Please know that you did everything that you could and that you made a huge difference in these kittens' lives.  Without you they their suffering would have been much more.  As decent humans on this planet, all we can hope to do is alleviate suffering as best as we can, and you certainly did that for these two kittens.
