Why my 7 month old cat cry like he is dying until I run to where he is and pet/snuggle him?

I have a very quiet lynx point moggie named Ghibli. I mean.... he will literally only occasionally meow when he is greeting you or is very hungry.... and not even then. Recently, he has been going into my room and playing by himself (normal).... then out of NOWHERE----- "MEOW MEOW I'M DYING MEOW" until I run in the room expecting to see him smashed under a bookshelf or something... and there he is sitting on my bed looking as jolly as a Santa Claus at the mall and even starts doing his happy purr/trill.

Is he seriously just doing this for attention? I always knew he was a total ham but really Ghibli? It probably happens once every 4 days. Help.

Oh, and this is the little weirdo:

He is adorable!

He needs to be neutered.
Thank you :)

He is already neutered. I would never EVER want to own a Tomcat

Any other suggestions on why he may be behaving this way other than just being a Ham?

He is really cute.  My Siamese mix was doing this a lot for awhile.  If you don't react he will probably stop.  Just looking for your attention.

Thanks Riley1! Okay, maybe its a Siamese mix thing. I was just curious if he may be in some sort of pain or if this is a sign of something? Again, i know this is only something a vet could answer.....

He has a check-up just a week ago and was very healthy, so obviously I am slightly hesitant to take him back if it seems minor and others have experienced this with their cats :)

Thanks

So, your Siameesie discovered his voice, did he? [emoji]128568[/emoji][emoji]128568[/emoji] Does he sleep in bed with you? When does he caterwaul? My cat is half Siameesie and oh lord, once he learned to speak, things only get louder from there! I agree with Riley1--if you ignore, he will stop.
Eventually. Lol. Though Robin can go on for 15 minutes or more, he does stop if I ignore him. He usually wants to either play (in which case we play), or he'll scamper back to the bed, because having greeted me at the front door, it's time to go back to sleep. It's a tough job being a doorman, hehe.

PS You don't happen to have a meowing cat clock, do you? That's how my cat learned to meow. I'm still thanking my sister....[emoji]128572[/emoji][emoji]128572[/emoji][emoji]128572[/emoji]

Glad to hear he's neutered!

Siamese are most definitely vocal, not sure but it might be boredom or a bit lonely for a cat companion.

+1 to what everyone said about Siamese being super talkative. Even my current (non-Siamese) gets loud sometimes, especially if he's carrying around a toy in his mouth.

My 15 yr d Siamese mix makes this deep yowl when he carries this old mouse toy. He has the same routine. Every night after we're all in bed I hear him bellering like he's looking for his long lost friend. He then lays his mouse on the kitchen rug. Every morning the mouse is there. So strange but cute!

Our Mackie, who is NOT Siamese, "sings" in the middle of the night too, usually in the kitchen where he echoes nicely. (I suppose I should be glad it's not the bathroom! But I worry that the neighbors might complain; we live in an apartment building.) He's not young either; he's 8 years old. Even when he's trying for our attention when we're right there (often in the kitchen), he gets into this polysyllabic thing. And yes, he was neutered at one year of age.

So I feel for you. :)

It's very cute, that certain cry sound when he has his mouse in mouth is his announcing he has prey like a real mouse :)

I always knew when a former cat of mine brought me gifts, he had this one cry that was sort of throaty and constant, maomaomaomaomao. Heeh!

At least I knew when to jump up and redirect him!

Always trying to bring it to me in bed during the night.

I woke up during the night to go potty and stepped on one once, bare feet of course.......ugh.

Lol, of course you'd be barefooted! You know, I never put two and two together that my cat is acting like he found prey. I was just thinking he was bored and wanted to know where we all went. Thanks for the insight!

That sounds just like us!! My Mac (also called Mackie!) is forever talking and I know the neighbors can hear him. The reason I know this is, I can hear their cat talking too!

The really funny thing is, my living room faces the courtyard on the ground floor so my cats like to sit in our window and people watch. Well when this new neighbor moved in, she went crazy to see my guys there, she climbed right over the flower beds and squatted down and talked baby talk to my cats through the screen. Little did she know, a human person was on the other side of the curtain only inches away, hearing every mushy word.

That's how I knew another crazy cat mom moved in to our building. For all I know, she could be a member in this forum!

I know it can be annoying, OP, but I'm usually glad my cats talk so much. Eventually you might figure out your cat has certain meows to mean certain things. They're amazing communicators.

It reminds me of a cat we had when I was a child. She would hunt (it was the '50s, and most cats were indoor-outdoor cats), and try to bring her catch into the house. My mother always turned her away, and she did have a distinctive cry. Sometimes she would try to come in with it by way of the basement (there was a kitty door in the outside basement door) and up the stairs, but Mom knew that peculiar cry and would ignore her, and usually my father would dispose of the remains later. Well, one day she cried at the basement stairs door in her usual voice, so Mom let her in--and in she ran, with a LIVE mouse, and proceeded to juggle it under the kitchen table!! Poor Mom...

Ghibli is a handsome little guy! I really have nothing of value to add except to concur that he's looking for attention.

Misterwhiskers,

Yes... I believe he has found his voice
. And yes, he does sleep in bed with me! When does he caterwaul? SO randomly, usually in the evening. He will nonchalantly walk into my room and play for a bit by himself (I play with him frequently but he also enjoys playing with toys by himself). After maybe two minutes he will meow like he is DYING until I come in! I Wonder if he forgets where I am and is calling for me? haha.

I am a student who usually works from home aka I'm home all day studying, so I don't think he is lonely at all. He was also found stray and not really socialized to other kittens.

I will ignore from now on! Siamese/Siamese mixes are so funny.... I am learning that they are pretty different from other cat breeds! He is so intelligent. And no! I don't have a meowing cat clock

Sounds like what my Lucky used to do
We came to absolutely adore it. We said he was "singing" to us. Mom said he sounded like the Husky on the youtube vids that would say "I love you". So one day, we said "Wah wah woo!" back to Lucky when he started that. Omg, the response we got! He just started rubbing all over us and meowed as if to say "I love you too!"

LOL kitty is thinking, "hey this yelling at them really works"   My guy does this awful meowyowl at night, about 15 minutes after I am tucked in bed he will do it for about 5 minutes. He used to do it longer, but since the poor little kitty that visited his porch was killed by a car, he doesn't do it as long. Not sure if it is an invite or a get off my property thing.

My kitten Yibb-ten does this. If she wants attention or to get into a closed room she starts meowing pretty loudly. Unfortunately most of the time both me and her sister Hastpurr just ignore her. Usually she stops pretty quickly unless I am in the closed room.

Fluffy is part Maine Coon.  She will come up to me and meow and wait for me to follow her.  I've been led to the treat  toy, the food area, the rug near the front door for play time (she slides all over the hardwood floor) and upstairs for playtime.  Sometimes we have conversations on the way downstairs in the morning.

Eclipse, who we think may be part Siamese, will go where he wants us and meow loudly.  He will meow at bugs on the ceiling and when he wants treats.  Recently he has been trying the Fluffy way of leading us instead of waiting for us to come to him, which doesn't always happen.
