During renovations to my home a raccoon decided to visit. This was at night while everyone slept. My cat at the foot of my bed woke me up without making a sound, and pointed out the intruder. She kept a very watchful distance but wouldn't leave my side. Once the raccoon realized I was wake it freaked and started running around knocking things over. He escaped outside but I still wonder what would have happened had I slept through it. I also have had this same cat wake me up one night while I was ill. When I opened my eyes and reassured he I was ok she went to sleep on my feet.

Anyone else have a guardian kitty?

That's really amazing! I love to hear stories of how cats help people. There is even a book on it, it talks about how cats have helped blind dogs, cats saving their kittens from fires, and more.

As far as our own cats, my kitty is very selfish.
I think he would just cry to be saved if something broke into the house. LOL.

I have had a stomach bug since Sunday and haven't been able to keep anything down until earlier today. Sophie has been extra loving and has been snuggling with me and earlier she was stroking my cheek with her paw while I lay in bed feeling awful.

Great stories guys, I love reading post like this.

If I am not feeling well, Macha knows it and she will come to my side and giving me love, kissing me, kneading my arms and purring non stop. She will lay down next to me and we cuddled. Mia I don't know yet, she just arrived lol I hope she will be like Macha. So sweet these babies, they will give us great comfort.

I have lupus and kidney disease and Mac always knows when my bad days are. He's much quieter and gentler.

When I had my last kidney surgery, I was overloaded on anesthesia and when I came home, I had to lay on my back for 24 hrs to prevent bleeding. I was so drugged out, my husband put me to bed with the tv remote and my iPad but I passed out. I came to 15 mins later to find Mac had climbed onto my chest, assumed the meatloaf position and was watching me, his little face only inches away from mine. Over the next couple hours, I was in and out but the cat never moved- he was making sure I was ok.

My husband shooed him off and I guess I went back to sleep because when I came to, there was macs favorite catnip mouse next to me. He had brought me a gift. My husband had then shut the cat out of the bedroom and Mac cried and cried, eventually began throwing himself at the door, trying to get to me. Hubby put a couch cushion in front of the four so I wouldn't hear the noise- I was sound asleep through all this- so Mac just lay down in the hall, figuring someone was going to open that door at some point!

I have lots of stories about the things he does for me. He's very special.

Beautiful and sweet story Macsmommy.

Our cats are so amazing, they give us unconditional love.

They're always there for us...they are like angels.
