Hello! I've been coming back to this forums for a lot of things, mostly to look at people's cats! Haha! Everyone's cats are so cute, bless.

I've owned a couple of cats, 4 at the same time the most. But these are usually strays at the vicinity that decided to stay at our house because we feed them. Our lot is huge, and we're right smack in the middle of a place with lots of foliage so mice, snakes, and birds are abundant. Usually they come at our house as kittens, and recently we've been getting one to three randomly so we think there are people leaving kittens at our place. That's all right, everyone's welcome and I've rehomed a number I don't recall. It's come to the point that we don't name the kittens that arrive, because we get attached and have a difficult time giving them away. Haha!

Currently, we have 2 outdoor adults, and a kitten. The male, Mason, is really elusive and is actually really scared of my DSLR, but he started staying around our place when I saved him from our once Belgiah Shephered. Belgie has this intense hunting drive, and targets anything small and moving, which we tried so hard to rectify the behaviour (she was given to us by our neighbor, who has tons of dogs that are awry; the reason why they gave her to us was an apology for their dogs killing one of my cats, what irony and I was forced to take her in for 'politeness') but even before we finished getting her through behaviour training, she ate a wild frog (we have those colorful poisonous ones around our area), and died shortly after. That was what I feared the most, but yeah.

Anyway, Mason was unfortunate as he was passing by for a usual meal and Belgie somehow got out of her pen (she's very smart). Good thing I heard the ruckus and got out to Belgie chasing the poor cat around our lot. I was able to get to her once she got a hold of Mason, and held her on her neck so she let go of him. Mason ran away, but Belgie got out of my grasp but as there were a lot of plants, she struggled to get to him and I was able to block her path. They were both bleeding at this point, but nothing really severe I assume. Since then, Mason's been around our lot (when Belgie was alive he'd be perched on somewhere, not on the ground as he is now). I'm still the only person he lets pet him, and not so much. He still flinches and is usually at a distance unless he's certain it's me.

Here's a picture of the other adult, Stella, and the recent stray kitten we found right outside our gate:

Stella's a sweetheart, we got her as a kitten she's been with us for 4 years now and never actually left our lot. She's not fond of adult cats, but is the first one to play and be friends with kittens. She actually doesn't like Mason so we got them separate feeding and drinking bowls (we used to feed them on a large plate cause we also leave out for strays that pass by our house). She's also not keen on being carried/held, even when she was a kitten, so we never really pick her up. She's content running her body on our legs.

She's also an excellent hunter, she brought home countless of live birds we had to turn over to the bird society. I actually didn't know he was until she caught a Goshawk for us and injured its wing, and when I posted on my FB he decided to come over and pick the bird up. But yeah, she caught a Goshawk, l o l.

All my cats have been fixed except for the new kitten and Velvet.

This is Velvet, he's a Ragdoll and Maine Coon mix. He's 1 year old, and I got him for my birthday last year. Possibly the worst impulse buy because you don't impulse buy pets, but the best decision I've ever made. He's also the first I bought with my money (I graduated uni last year).

Funny story because I got discounted on the discount when I got him, l o l. We saw an adlisting online for him and his brothers (there were 5), and I initially wanted another cat because he had the sweetest face and a pink nose. I was chatting with the breeder, who admitted that the kittens were not planned as they were just pets and thought had bought a neutered Ragdoll as they were imported from the US (I'm in the Philippines), and the female Maine Coon was a gift and they didn't think of getting her fixed because the male had already been neutered. Turns out, the male had one of those odd occurences where he wasn't completely neutered (or so she told me), and so they had kittens that they didn't plan for. Weird story, but like I really fell in love with the pictures and sat on them for a week before contacting her and she told me I can meet them first if that'll make me feel better about deciding to get the kitten and that I could get a discounted price for him since she just really needed to sell the kittens.

Anyway, after the initial conversation and her giving out her address, it was uncanny that her last name and location matches one of my friend's (acquantance really, she's more of my cousin's friend) last names and general area of living. So I decided to do some digging, and the woman who had the kittens was the aunt of my friend and was an alumnae of the high school I graduated from. So I asked her about it and brought up my cousin is friends with her niece, and we started talking longer and about her family and my family and her actually knowing my aunt, and her son knows my cousin since they're batchmates and stuff. We actually bonded and she wanted to meet me at a mall for coffee with the cats instead of her house, l o l.

When we met, it was at a Starbucks near our highschool. We sat at an open area and she brought the 5 kittens and the adult cats with her. I saw the one I wanted, but she told me that she wasn't comfortable giving him to me since he had a wound and the vet didn't want her to release him until he recovered. I had to pick a different kitten, and it felt like I was in heaven, l o l. The kittens were really adorable and the parents were very calm and gentle, and didn't mind at all they weren't at home. I just wanted to lie down in the fur forever, like please they're all so soft. All 4 of the kittens were really active and were interested in other things, but they all had really lovely features on their faces. Their markings were evenly pointed, and one of them had a diamond on his forehead. But then the 5th kitten turned to face me, and he just had the expression of suffering and frustration on his face. Like oh my God, you're 3 months old. What did you see? Why are you so angry?

(These pictures are at my house)

It wasn't his face that sold me, all the other kittens seemed disinterested and wanted to sleep, but he was the one who walked to me and started playing with me. He was the only active one in the bunch, and I was looking for that kind of cat since that fit my lifestlye a lot more. She decided that since we had a lot of connections (I also started calling her auntie), she'd lower the price for him. I insisted against it, but she didn't let me. LOL. So yeah, I got him fairly cheap and the remainder was enough to buy him his essentials (I feed all my pets raw but he wasn't fond of it so he's on a wet diet with dry for snacks since he's really picky).

When I took him in, I thought that once his markings set in he'd look less angry, but I was wrong. The initial dots on his forehead got really predominant and it literally just made him look angrier and angrier as time went by. And his default expression is just disinterested and frustrated at everything in the world, even when his personality is the complete opposite. He's actually very affectionate and very personable cat, but most people just see him for his outer expression.

There is literally no picture I can give you where he doesn't look the least bit unpleased about anything. And also he doesn't like going out much so he's indoors most of the time. He's got the Maine Coon M and the Ragdoll point and over-all features. People I've shown his pictures to sometimes mistake him for a Ragdoll, but he's really a mix.

This is the most recent picture I got of him:

This is his face like all the time, the default one.

Anyway, sorry for rambling! I just really love cats, haha! I have 2 dogs as well, but I've also owned 12 rabbits, 8 goats, 2 ponds of fish, and a betta in the years we've lived in this house. So yeah, haha! I love animals in general, probably more than people (but I love people too). Nice to meet all of you, and I apologize for stalking your furbabies.

Sorry for the typos (I couldn't find an edit button, so sorry for this double posting as well), I was talking about my friend being part of the aviary association (that's the sudden pronoun change), and that the kittens (Velvet's brothers) weren't* active. They were really gentle and calm; but curious and healthy.

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128570[/emoji] I love the photos of your beautiful cats and the stories of how they came into your life. And I'm so glad you were able to save Mason from a dog attack - it sounds like he knows who loves him!
