She had an operation last Wednesday. She does not like her cone, and she keeps sitting with her head drooping like this. She is not very steady on her feet. On the plus side, she is eating, drinking and eliminating. She's lost weight though, and does not really have much to spare. She stays very close to me a lot of the time. She's normally a quiet cat but this is weird even for her. Do small cats take longer to metabolise anaesthetics?

How old is she and what was the operation for?  I would call your vet right away, and perhaps start offering very tempting food.  Your vet may also allow the cone to come off if that helps her attitude and if she doesn't lick the site of the operation.

Hey Angelrat, I recollect my vet saying that most cats metabolise anaesthetics within 24 hours. In any event, it certainly shouldn't take 5 days for the chemicals to leave your cat's body.

She is nearly five, and she was getting spayed. I suspect she really needs the cone as she grooms herself a lot and she is trying to lick at her wound but cant reach it. I think i should contact the vet, it is worrying to see her so sad. Thank you.

Please let us know what your vet says.
