I have a 5 year old cat and he still acts like a kitten we have 2 young children and I am worried he is going to attack him but don't have the heart to let him go to another family. He has attacked my mother in law twice drawing blood and has wrecked my furniture. I am on a breaking point on what to do we have gotten him a scratching post but he won't use it. Have tried to warm up to him more so but don't like to pet on belly or back can only be face. He loves feet. Please help. We are getting new leather couches and I don't want them in shreds

Not sure what you mean by "attacked". Do you mean without provocation of any sort, or just playing that was misconstrued as attacking because it drew blood?

Also, is your cat fixed? If not, that could solve a heap of problems.

In regards to the new furniture, you may need to make sure that you have plenty of scratching posts around the house for him. If you are that worried about the furniture, there are things it can be covered with. I wish I could remember the one thing I saw that was completely invisible, but I would totally use that if I was that worried about my furniture. And I'm not (I also have leather furniture). Scratches (sometimes just from them jumping) are par for the course with cats as far as I'm concerned.

In regards to your kids, they need to understand that they need to respect the kitty. That is, no just picking him up in ways that make the cat uncomfortable, etc. Also make sure they know the proper way to pick up a cat if for some reason they do need to pick him up. And if he obviously wants to be left alone, then it's best to do that also. Some cats just have moments that they don't want to have someone touching them. And kids can be pretty rough sometimes, even if they are not meaning to be.

He attacked her not like playing or anything she came in to babysit my children and set her wAyer bottle down and atacked her and this happend more then once . My children do not pick the cat up. They pet him if he let's them. My cat will go on rampages eyes wide and just run all over the place like he is going to attack.

Does he stand in doorways and hallways and try to block access? Like, tries to stop someone from entering or leaving? Does he demand that you pet him or stop petting him?

Is he pouncing on people unexpectedly or does he poof up and growl before attacking?

Has he always done this or did it start after a particular event?

If he doesn't like being pet on his tummy or back, don't do it.
