I redid (most) of my kitchen!

Repainted the cabinets (They are originals from the 50's, solid wood). My dad bought me new backsplash! Took us 3 days to get this much done. I am saving up for floors.. they will be rustic grey wood-like floors (probably pergo or laminate to look like rustic wood). Hoping to get this done after the holidays.

Before photo (like a year ago before, still move-in progress. I forgot to take a before photo this weekend):

Semi-final photo.

Still a few things to do still. My dad is going to come back tomorrow to grout the backsplash. I still need to put up the stove hood and outlet covers. I want to take down that vent cover, fill

And all in between photos!

Some money savers we did- We spray painted the old hinges (which were rusted chrome). Spray painted outlet covers and stove hood to match (hood was beige). This saved us at least $250)

We were lucky to have a beautiful day to paint outside! (and yes.. I neglected my tomatoes.. lol)

Ripping down the old ugly 70's backsplash!

Spray painted hinges and its screws

My dad working hard at putting up the glass tiled backsplash! (also shows the color more accurately in the cabinet)

That is so pretty.  The backsplash and cabinets look really good together.

It looks so modern, sleek, and new.
I can't believe the transformation with paint and tiles. And new handles. (I bet those tomatoes were waiting for the new kitchen, too.

Thanks everyone!

I certainly owe my parents a LOT! I am looking up a fruit basket or something to send my dad. They refused to let me pay for dinner, so I gotta force something on them that they can't say no to!

My dad is going back today (back to work for me today, ugh) to do the grouting and putting up the outlet covers and stove hood. Tonight I got major cleaning to do and paint touch ups. I love it!

I hated my countertops.. I mean really hated it. Im not sure what it is but it's like a hard plastic materials. I still hate it, but I like it 10% better since it looks much better with the repainted cabinets and new backsplash! Can't wait to get my floors in!

Looks great!   Aren't parents the best!  Mine have helped me w/ the renovations I have done here as well, especially my mom.

Your new kitchen looks fantastic @Draco  .    The new splashback and darker cupboard doors make the worktop look totally different too.   It 's like a 50's / 70's retro look nicely updated to current with the glass splashback and finishing details.

Now I'm sitting here thinking I need to give my kitchen a bit of a freshen-up with a coat of paint.
I love my kitchen units and worktop but the walls are definitely starting to look shabby.

Even just painting the walls in the kitchen can make it feel like a whole new kitchen! Go for it!

I would love to put a decent backsplash on the walls of our kitchen, but maybe next year. I'm thinking of some kind of a subway tile (perhaps in the same light sage that the walls are painted). I have to be really careful for backsplash because of the busyness in the granite I chose for our countertops. So a simple subway, perhaps in a herringbone pattern will probably be what we do.

And at that point, we'll install the pot-filler at the stove, too.

My sister just did a gorgeous rustic-looking backsplash on her kitchen walls. They have a fireplace in their kitchen and the backsplash works really well with everything they've done.

I think your kitchen is lovely, Draco. You guys really did do a great job.
