Hi so my cat, Sherlock, last week was unable to urinate so we brought him to the vet and paid $1700 to get him unblocked for 3 days. I'm only 16 years old and my parents are unable to afford the other costs to treat his symptoms. We brought him home after the 3 days and changed his diet to wet food and gave him Pro Plan Urinary Tract food. He was good for a 5-6 days on the track to recovery. He was peeing little amounts but yesterday his urine was tinted pink. He also been grooming himself a lot more often in the area he pees. I attached a picture of that area and it looks enflamed. He also started seizing a bit a few hours ago and he wet himself. He's unable to walk properly and lost all his strength to walk. He also lost his appetite. I don't know what to do because yesterday he looked fine. We've been giving him Baytil, prazosin, and buprenix. We did not pay the $700 for the diagnostic tests and instead we were going to see if my cat would get better. Please don't condescend me for being a bad pet owner, we're trying our best. My vet is closed right now because its Sunday and we don't know what to do. Does anyone have any similar experiences with seizures after unblocking? Is this common and what should we expect from our cat if he does not get treatment. I don't think he's blocked right now because he was still able to pass urine a few hours ago due to his accident. He's also been making a few accidents around the house and not in the litter box. Thank you so much in advance.

I forgot to mention that our cat is 2 1/2 years old and has no other medical complications that we know of.

He needs to go to an emergency vet immediately.  I think it is likely that he will die without treatment.

We just had the same thing happen with our cat Neo being blocked up.

If your cat is blocking again, which it sounds like he is, you MUST take him to the ER. Do you have a 24 hour vet ER in your area?

If he's having seizures that probably means his potassium is low...getting bloodwork will help show the problem most likely. We had Neo's blood and urine tested to make sure everything was okay.

This problem can quickly affect kidneys and be fatal within 24-48 hours if not taken care of immediately.

We had to use something called Care Credit because we couldn't afford the $2000 bill either (just make sure to pay if off before the interest kicks in because it's VERY high...or have your parents transfer to a credit card which will be a much cheaper interest rate). Care Credit should give you a year to pay it off, or if you can't within that time, you can switch it over to a credit card. Care Credit isn't very "caring" unfortunately.

The vet should recommend a special diet to him...we got Royal Canine SO Urinary. There's also Hills Diet C/D and I've heard S/D by Hills is also beneficial. Make sure he's getting plenty of fluids. I've heard the over-the-counter foods aren't that great for cats who have already been blocked.

So sorry this is happening again! I know this is scary and frustrating, but try to get him to an ER fast.

I hope you will still speak to a vet about the seizures.  That is not normal or safe.
