I called down to my coffee store and left a message to please order 3 boxes of Premium Arabica (Second Cup) for me and I'd come down Tuesday right after work to pick them up.

She called me back about 15 minutes later and said they are basically now only covering Green Mountain coffees. She can no longer get the Premium Arabica kcups. Bummer.

Ebay to the rescue. I ordered 3 boxes and they're to hit my office on Tuesday. Whew!

(Right now I'm drinking Tim Horton's. Ick.)

I remember when my co-worker and I were on a Timothy's Italian Blend kick a few years ago. My, that was good coffee. We were getting it at Bed, Bath and Beyond with our 20% coupons. Well, Green Mountain bought Timothy's and discontinued a lot of those products, including the Italian Blend. They tried to say that the Green Mountain Lake and Lodge was as good as the Italian Blend. Wrong, wrong, wrong! For a while, we were buying it through eBay from a company in Canada. That was when I started sampling other coffees and found Premium Arabica. If Green Mountain keeps buying companies and then discontinuing their brands, I'm going to have to quit drinking coffee....period.

Yep, coffee lovers know what they love and how they drink it. No exceptions or substitutions will do. Come on Tuesday. :lol3:

Yes, Barbara, come on Tuesday! I was making my coffee this morning and I thought, "Only two more mornings of drinking crappy coffee. Gosh, I hope my stash comes on Tuesday!!" I had it sent to my office....everybody will see me doing a Happy Dance!

Don't laugh but I prefer McDonalds coffee to Timmies. So what province is home?
I love McDonald's coffee.  It always ranks very high in taste tests easily out ranking the gourmet coffees.  I have bought it in the supermarket and made it at home and it is good brewed at home as well.  It isn't as good as from the restaurant but still good.  At least some of the better taste in a restaurant is the commercial brewing equipment versus home brewing equipment.

Green Mountain used to be one of the small companies but they do seem to be taking over now.  At one time they were one of McDonald's supplies but I don't know if that is still true now.  McDonald's is pretty tight lipped about their coffee now.  They do claim that 1/3 of their coffee is fair trade but they are so tight lipped there is no way to know if that is true or not..

I didn't know you guys had Timmies down there. I know that there are a few just south of the border around Buffalo and Niagara Falls

LOL EDIT just realized you are using the K-cup I guess you don't actually need a store. I need to drink my coffee before I post

I'm not a fan of Tim Hortons coffee. I love the coffee from McDonald's and I've found a cheap tdisc that tastes just like it. I'm hoping to get a keurig for Christmas and get rid of my Tassimo because I barely use it anymore. I've been drinking instant.

I also drink some decaf

Trader Joe's is not bad...

Why don't you just order any k-cups from Keurig, they have it all.  Are you paying less at these other places.

I'm so glad I never went to the k cups.  I do fine with my ole drip maker.  She's been keeping me in coffee for 10 years, with regular cleaning.  And my favorite coffee isn't likely to ever be in k cups anyhoo.  I am in love with a hard to get blend called "Blue Nile," which, way back in 2002, retailed for $50 per half pound.  I can't afford it any longer, but the memory of it lingers on my tongue!

That said, I will admit to being a bit of a coffee snob in a couple of other ways...there are certain brands that I like, and I will go to lengths to get them.  Not always the most expensive, either.  I just like 'em.  And I always, always make my coffee with spring or filtered water.  Never distilled.  Distilled water is dead water, and it muddies the flavors.  I want living water in that pot!

Because Keurig IS Green Mountain. Or Green Mountain IS Keurig. And Green Mountain wants to sell their own brands and that's it. And Green Mountain brands generally are not good-tasting.

I did go to the Green Mountain site....put in the top three of my favorite brands. Green Mountain doesn't sell any of them. What they do is buy the other companies, then discontinue them. It's what they did with Timothy's. Then they said, "Oh, but our Lake and Lodge is just as good as Timothy's Italian Blend!" No, it's not. Not even close. In fact, it's pretty horrible. And as Artiemom mentioned, many of the GM k-cups have a horrid aftertaste.

Second Cup Premium Arabica

Brown Gold 100% Peruvian and Brown Gold 100% Costa Rican

Marley Coffee Get Up, Stand Up

So I end up going through eBay or Amazon. And paying a lot more than I would normally have to pay. But it's what I want.

I don't use a regular percolator because I'm the only one in the house who drinks coffee regularly. Rick doesn't; on occasion he may drink an iced coffee from the Donut Shoppe brand. But that's it. To prepare a full pot is waste of money, coffee, and water....and I only use bottled water. So I went with a Keurig several years ago. We take apart the used cups, and I put the used grounds in our compost pile. The rest of it gets recycled in our single-stream recycling.

One of my co-workers bought some Trader Joe's k-cups at a yard sale. He really likes them, but they're way too strong for me. He uses honey in his coffee to cut down on the bitterness.

I have been using Keurig for many years also.  Russ and I both enjoy coffee and we both like stronger brands.  I have tried some that I didn't like but the ones I do like, I just  re-order.

As you know tho, I do use my own brand of coffee by using the My K-cup.

I use my own coffee as well rather than the K-cups, much cheaper.  I do still sometimes make a pot, it just depends on rather it is one of those mornings where I know I will need a lot of coffee to get going and keep going.

I love my coffee maker as it grinds fresh beans for each pot HOWEVER most everyone has K-cups these days. So when at the camper I use the ones you fill yourself, I grind a few beans fill all 4 K-cups and keep them in a plastic container, then when I  have used them all I repeat the process...Everyone always asks why I do not have that particular coffee maker , the reason is I like mine best, and have NO desire to own a Krups...

I also buy several kinds of beans and mix my own brands it is cheaper than buying flavored beans.Normally I used the 8'oclock brand and mix in a couple bags of French Vanilla brand, beats the heck out of Starbucks prices . Also got a cheap frother (battery operated) if I want a creamy froth or want to add a flavor syrup to my milk.

I recently received the new 2.0 Keurig brewer which gives you the choice of making a carafe of coffee which makes up to 4 cups of fresh coffee.  I really won't be using it much but if for some reason I want more than 1 cup, I will have the choice of making the carafe of coffee.

Yeah, making my own is much, much cheaper.

Blue Nile is an Ethiopian coffee and it IS good!

My ex-husband is from Ethiopia and that is how I became familiar with it. He drank it all the time! You can still get it and a LOT less expensive than what you were paying!

You can go right to their web site and get 1 pound for $11.00!

Have a cup! c(_) ~~

I remember seeing an interesting coffee in a gourmet shop called Blue Mountain from Jamaica.  I wanted to try it until I saw the price, too expensive for me.  It worked out to $80 a pound.  I looked it up on the internet and it is supposed to be one of the most expensive coffees in the world.  It's grown on one particular mountain in Jamaica, too expensive for me.
