Hi all, I'm brand new here so hope this is the right place for this question.

My two boys LOVE their wheat grass.  So much so that it rarely lasts more than a week.  The market I get it from recently raised the price, so I really want to know, do any of you have ways to make this stuff last a little longer?  I hate having to replace it so often, especially now at the higher price.  Any suggestions most appreciated!  "Meow, meow," say Opal and Rocky.  And I say "Thanks!"

Welcome to TCS!

You can buy the seeds at most pet stores or pet departments in places like Walmart and plant them in potting soil. The grass lasts longer than in those kits, and there's not as much mess if you use a heavy pot.

Thanks, J.  When you plant the seeds, how long does it take for them to grow?

It takes at least a week or two, depending on how much sun and warmth they get. Three or 4 weeks is usually ideal as far as the height of the blades is concerned. My husband is the gardener in the family, and he usually starts a new pot when he sees the grass in the first pot has been chomped down to about 2 or 3 inches.

Okay, thanks again.  Just one more question - once you put out a pot of new grass, how long that usually last?  Oh, and also, how many cats do you have?  If more than one do they both/all eat it?

Thanks!
