DH and I are going to spend a week in Las Vegas over Christmas! :woo:

We've been researching quite a bit, and there is no end to the things we can do there. I just wondered if anyone here has travel advice? I like hearing from people who've been somewhere and can say "do this, don't do that" etc. Any tips on restaurants or activities would be appreciated. We have a huge list from Google, so it'd be great to narrow it down.

Also, Southern Utah. Anyone been? We'll be driving around there for a week in December. It's hard to gauge how tricky the driving conditions will be at that time of year. I've heard some horror stories. We're not off-roading, but still, how bad are the main roads? There's a lot of canyon & mountain driving, and I'm hoping it's not too hair raising.

Rick adores going to Vegas! It's one of his favorite spots to spend time.

When I was out there a while back (quite a while ago), while he was in his conferences during the day, I did some bus trips with some of the other ladies. I loved seeing the Valley of Fire. Such beauty. I could have spent an entire day there, preferably by myself, more so than being with other women. I'm never been one for the casinos or anything like that, but I loved the Valley of Fire.

You guys have a wonderful trip!

Thanks Winchester Winchester . On the Fodor's forum someone mentioned the Valley of Fire too, and it's on the way to Utah so we're definitely planning on driving through.

We've been looking at the local weather for places in Utah, and it's colder than here! -18C in Bryce Canyon!!! We're just a couple of wussy Canadians, not sure we can handle that! :lol3:

Watch the cirqu du soleil shows!  Do you live far from Vegas?  If so, I guess you can go out with a bang and start off with the best show "O."  Pan roast at the Oyster bar is really popular and delicious.  But it will only seat about 10 people or so at a time so I suggest going at a VERY odd time!

My favorite thing to do in Vegas is just walk around and look at the hotels on the strip, they are huge and have a lot to look at it both inside and out!
