Hey!

I bought some new tea (or herbal infusion?) today and as soon as I got home all three of my cats were smelling my shopping bag like crazy. Turns out they really liked the smell of the tea packet. All three of them were rolling on the floor around it, biting the cardboard and trying to get the tea out! They haven't reacted to anything (besides catnip) like this before, and the same thing happened with my mom's cats. Any ideas on what might have caused this? Here's a picture of the tea and here's the ingredient list:

- oat flowering tops

- licorice root

- chamomile flower

- lavender flower

- limeflower

- valerian root

- green Rama tulsi leaf

Thanks!

My two go nuts for valerian root - they respond just like they do to catnip. I'm sure it was the valerian they were reacting to :jump:

Oh, I so agree!  Hekitty doesn't respond to catnip, unless there's a large pile on the floor, but she goes goofy for valerian.  I order it for her from an organic herb source, and she gets happy in a hurry.

Small amounts of valerian and chamomile tea can be given to cats with broken bones to help them relax and relieve pain, but not in conjunction with any meds prescribed by the vet.

My cat used to get into my vitamins, which included valerian. [emoji]128547[/emoji] I thought he was attracted to the "toe cheese" smell. Go figure.

Not to change the subject, but does the tea smell better?

Not that I know for sure, since it isn't my tea, but with the licorice root and lavender, I'm betting it does.

I know a lot of people who think valerian smells like feet, but to me it smells like vinegar.  And I like the smell of vinegar, so that works.
