I have had my cat willow since she was about 7-8 weeks old as she still had blue eyes when she came to us. she's now 3 months off 3years old and on the 2nd of November she gave birth to only one kitten (as far as I know). It's her very first pregnancy n birth. Since then shes moved the kitten severely times around the house but always seemed to be ok with the move, but yesterday she moved the kitten into my dinning room,a couple of hours later my son found the kitten under my dinning table and she had sadly passed away after wondering away from mum, I'm now so upset about the loss that I don't know what to do now. I have taken the kitten away from mum after she tried to groom and arouse the kitten to respond but after she didn't respond she tried more but still the kitten wouldn't move, then she wondered away. that's when I took the kitten away, but not sure now if I did the right thing she has no other kittens to look after so now all she is doing is calling for her, does she know that her kitten has died or is the distress just mine,I'm totally lost and don't know what to do for the best for willow please please please some1 help me

Sorry to hear about the loss of the new kitten.

When I was about 16 years old our cat Sunshine, who was about 11 years old got pregnant by the neighbor's Tom (they lived in our building and he snuck in our apartment).

Sunshine had two kittens, she completely ignored one and nursed the other. I am sure she knew there was something wrong with the kitten she ignored. I tried feeding it with an eye dropper but it died. Sunshine had the second kitten to nurse so maybe she didn't notice her other kitten was gone.

There was probably something wrong with the kitten which is why it died so young, poor thing. It could be your Willow is mourning over it, so sad.

That is so sad @Jessie n Willow  But something good might still come of it - find your local cat rescue group(s) and see if they have any very young orphan kitten(s) who could benefit from a foster mom cat. Do it quickly, while her milk is still in. Usually a queen will accept these babies without a problem. And it is much better for the kittens and the queen, not to mention easier for the caregivers who otherwise are bottle feeding every 2 hours around the clock!

Sorry about your kitten. I agree that finding some kittens to foster could be a wonderful option.

Do you plan to fix your cat? It can be dangerous for a cat to go through many heat cycles, and I would worry about her having another litter since this one had complications.

Agree with the idea of finding foster kittens. Its a help for her and probably nice for you.  Contact the shelters around,  another option is to contact vets around.  Vets do have wide contacts, and among others, contacts with breeders.

Just be reasonably sure the foster kittens are healthy.  You wont want fosterlings where their mom died  from distemper or Felv or similiar...

And vice versa.  Many rescuers, in unsure cases, they prefer to themselves raise by hand orphans from suspected circumstances, even if they do have a perfectly good milking mom at hand. Or a friendly male.
