Hi

A little help needed--we have 2 ex-feral cats.We feed them 2 cans of Fancy Feast  Gravy lover per day(between the 2 of them) and leave dish of Wilderness Adult chicken pellets to eat at their pleasure.

The male cat ,who tends to eat more pf the pellets, used to have a beautiful, thick fox like tail..Over the last few months ,his tail had been thinning down.

Not that we can see anything wrong. His coat is thick and shiny and he is obviously happy.

This may be just an age thing but I have been told that it maybe diet related...most comments point to shortage of protein ?????

The female ,who is on the same diet,( she is a maine coon ) and her coat and tail is thriving .

Any help on this would be deeply appreciated

I don't really know what to tell you on this one.  All I can say for certain is that Fancy Feast with GRAVY is not the best food around.  If you could switch them to Fancy Feast CLASSICS, that is a much better food.  (they may  not agree, but it's a fact)  Of course, depending on where you live, they may not be called CLASSICS (if you are in Europe, for instance)  But it's the Fancy Feast pate style that is best.

Has this boy had a Vet check-up just to make sure he's healthy? I don't know what could be wrong to make his tail "feathers" thin, but suppose his thyroid could cause this type of issue

Hi

Thank you for your reply. We have compared most foods to Fancy feast gravy and found that most contents are about the same--except for those that cost about 3 times the price)

We have tried Fancy feast classic and the kits just eat it for some reason--maybe we should persist and they may start eating it if these is nothing else.

We do tend to pamper to their pleasure--so the fault is probably ours

Thanks again for reply

hi

Thank you for reply---Yes,Blue Wilderness pellets are grain free---but that does not mean that Shadow has not become allergic to

something alse in the product.

We have compared most canned food to Fancy feast gravy lovers and most have grain in them (except the food that is 3 times the price.

Guess we will have to keep trying

hi again

We have a real stress problem with our cats--a visit to the vet is about the same as starting World War 3.

As they are ex feral, they go nuts if we try to pick them up or heaven forbid, try to get them into a carry cage--so we try to give them attention they may need at home with as little stress as possible.

They are indoor cats so they are not subject to less favorable conditions outside.

Shadow seems in excellent health, deep shiny coat and full of energy.---except for the thinning tail !!!

I will however visit the vet and see what he says !!
