I noticed a few small patches on the back Zeus' ears the last time I took him to the vet, just before altering. This morning I notice a scab on the front of his ear and it appears he is losing his fur in front of his ear to just above his eye!

Called the vet just before I left for work this morning, they said they were fully booked today and could try to fit us in "sometime". I have a full day today at work plus our show opening reception tonight so that's out. I made an appointment for 9:30 tomorrow morning.

Any ideas what this could be?

Hard to say but uf he's had contact with other cats recently it could be ringworm, a common fungal infection.  Only your vet can tell.

He is our only pet and does not go outside. The only time he would have been around other cats would have been while he was at the vet for his altering

However, I am pretty sure I noticed the patches on the back of his ears the week prior to his surgery, I pointed it out to the vet then and he did not seem concerned.

I guess I will find out tomorrow.

Could be allergies with itching and scratching or fleas with the same, or a flea allergy, with double of the same.  I go through this with Hekitty, who is currently covered in scabs and missing 20% of her fur, while we test for more and more allergens as I have the money for the tests.  Not fleas, not corn, not...well...there are six nots, with more to come.  Cortisone shots are helping, but I'll be glad when we get the cause pinned down.

One of my rescues, Cipher, had a really bad case of mange when I found him. All of his neck and face was scabby and terrible :/ I found that neem sprays work pretty well for it, by a week the mange was completely gone!! I also made a neem 'paste' with crushed neem leaves and some tumeric and put that onto his neck too. It was a pain when he shook it all off tho haha x'D Also if you can get it, neem oil might work too? But I couldn't find it so I had to use fresh neem leaves instead!

Poor Zeus!
Well, you know what it is, and it is treatable and managable.  I'll keep the little guy on my "candle list," where those (both two- and four-footed) who need help are given to the Divine for healing.

I think what upsets me most is that this little guy is only 6 months old and has had so many issues. Everytime I think we have moved past a problem something new pops up :sigh:

I grew up with cats (had one most of my life) and never had to see a vet for anything until they were old & dying.

My evil sister refered to him as a "lemon" yesterday - and THAT'S why I don't answer the phone when she calls ;)

Thanks for the tip, I found a local place that has Neem Oil but I read it is not safe for ingestion - when the cat cleans himself.

They have this stuff:

I am wondering if I can apply topically on his ears & rash since it is made to be ingested. It looks like it has alcohol in it, so it may burn. I an going to go there and see if they have neem leaf.

They have a cat shampoo with neem in it but the vet just started him on Revolution yesterday. She told me to apply a second dose in two weeks. I dont want to bath him cause I want to make sure the Revolution kills the adults - this first dose is supposed to do that. The second is for eggs. Then I have a third dose for two weeks after that.

Oh, never a lemon.  Maybe, just maybe a lemon drop...a tiny bit sour with all the issues, but with all that sweetness, who cares?
