Well, we just are getting over the loss of Sebastian Monday night, and now Snickers who is about 6 or 7 and has been a bit of a "neurotic" cat in the past  (peeing in wrong places like when he sees strays outside) is going to the litter box but not producing much urine, although he did go a good amount tonight. We started to give him some urinary tract hard food plus a product called "Tinkle tonic" that worked when Skipper had the same issue awhile back. He is not in any pain, is eating, playing and passing stool, plus he is being chased a lot by Stanley a spunky little 2 year-old, and I'm wondering if he could be reacting to the stress in the house of losing Sebastian plus knowing my wife and I are upset.

What do you think? He's not in pain, but I don't want or need another issue right now. If he keeps acting up he's going to the vet....

Thank you!

It's very possible it's the stress of losing your other cat and the changing dynamics in the cat hierarchy.  However, I'd get him to the vet ASAP to rule out a urinary tract infection or crystals as that can go from good to really bad in a short period of time.

I agree with @stephanietx  and while it could be a urinary tract infection, because he is a male it also could be a blockage which is rapidly very dangerous.  Please get him to a vet asap.

I took him to the vet this morning and he is having a urinary issue so THANK YOU both! He was examining him and said his bladder felt fine, but then he peed a bit which was good because there was some blood in the urine so they'll send that to the lab. As usual, it was a shot of Convenia, pain meds etc. etc. and another $400 bill but the little guy needs help!

But the WORST part was they examined him and said his teeth are TERRIBLE! His gums were bleeding, they think they'll have to pull a bunch of them which shocked us; we thought since they were indoor only cats they would be okay, but we surely are learning things as we go! It is tough to catch our cats to get them to the vets, very costly too, but this vet said he does make house calls so we'll see. First thing is getting him over this "cystitis" as he called it, so I'm glad he went in and they could see him right away! Then we'll deal with the dental issue....

We're going broke!!!!

Sooo glad you got him in and got him some meds!  Good for you!  Did you talk to the vet about changing his diet to help reduce the crystals and urinary issues?  That might be something to consider.  You might get a feliway diffuser or two to help decrease the stress level in your home and help with that part of the equation.

Yes he mentioned something about the diet; we at times do put out hard food for urinary support, but we'll talk more at his recheck in a few weeks. We do have a Feliway plug in and the other day I looked and it was empty, so we put a new one in.

I am so glad that I got him in this morning; trouble is now he'll hide for quite awhile so we will have a hard time getting him his meds! Once they know that you had them to the vets they are VERY WARY for days!!!
