Rhodey is 2 and a half years old.  We've had him since he was 2 months old and haven't had an issue like this before.

I'll try to make this short.

October of 2014 we were evicted from our home, and Rhodey went to live with my cousin for 4 months while we got settled in a new place.  Rhodey did pee and poop on my cousin's daughters bed after we'd leave when we visited him, and he never adjusted to living there.  He hid constantly the entire time.  Once he was back with us again, he immediately went back to his old self.  He didn't even explore the house first, he went straight to cuddling with us.

Now, our living situation is weird.  We have a lot of debt, and not enough income, so we live with my other cousin, and a family friend.  In total, there are 7 people in the house.  Cousin, family friend, me and husband, and 3 of cousin's children.  My cousin and her children WERE living in Colorado, but moved back into the house in August.  The house was remodeled and our bedroom was moved down to the basement.

The basement is only 50% finished, and the unfinished half isn't a place for cats.  However, we're unable to block off the door completely right now, which leaves Rhodey confined to our bedroom.

This is not the first time he's been confined to a room, and he was completely fine last time.  He's been in our room since the end of September, but in the week, he's started pooping in our bed.  He has two clean litterboxes, he has multiple cat scratchers, and a huge cat tree, plenty of toys, and we're in and out of the room all day and keep him company.  We play with him every morning, and he gets cuddles every night.  But still, he insists on pooping in our bed.

I should also mention, we recently found out he has worms, and a vet appointment is already made to take care of that.

Other than the pooping though, he behaviour and attitude are completely unchanged.

Is there something we can do to fix this?  What could be causing him to do this?  We don't know when we can get the door to the unfinished part of the basement fixed to let him roam around, though we're trying to rush it now and figure something out.  Could he have separation anxiety?  I had a feeling that that could be the case when he was acting out and pooping at my cousin's house but I've never heard of a cat having separation anxiety before.

He could be trying to tell you that he is uncomfortable because of the worms.  You may see a change in behavior after he is completely wormed.  Please note that he will need three treatments.  Is he fixed?

Yes, he is fixed and has been since he was 6 months old.

In that case a visit to the vet is in order. He is likely trying to communicate that something is wrong or associating the litter box with pain.
