I have a potential home for my foster kitten.  I adore him, and would love to keep him, but I found him with a feral, and the feral really does not play with him.  There is zero chance of finding a home for the feral...I've tried.  I have bought the  kitten toys, but I KNOW he'd really love a buddy to play with (he tries to initiate play with the feral)

.  This potential home has 3 other cats.  A friend who is knowledgable about cats told me that my kitten will be "low on the totem pole" at the new house...which makes me sad.  He is king of the house, here, because the feral rarely comes out and I do not have any dogs (yet...but I plan to adopt two fairly soon).  I worry about his adjustment period.  And I worry about things like "will the new home feed him canned food?" because my kitten adores canned food as a treat.  I know I could ask her, but my vet said whether or not they feed canned food should not be a deal breaker.

I would ask them, explaining that all cats need adjustment time and having things a familiar as possible will help. Then you can say he's used to eating such and such food, this litter, these toys, etc.

He may not be low cat at the new home. Depending on his personality and those of the other cats, he may turn out to be top cat.

Use your judgment when you visit the new home. If they are experienced cat owners, things should be OK.
