How much protein should a 7 month old and 6 year old be getting per meal? They both get canned and I've been planning on switching brands. Some of their foods are around seven percent protein. The Fancy Feast and Friskies around 11. I want to switch for more than one reason, one being the fat in Purina is higher and I want Holly, the adult to lose a pound.

I think that so long as you're feeding a complete food (especially as you're feeding wet food) your cats should be just fine.

I suspect you'll find that the higer protein foods are grain free, or at least have fewer non meat ingredients than the lower protein ones. Generally speaking, cats are better off with lower carb, higer protein foods as these more closely mimic what they're designed to eat. Lower carb foods tend to be better for weight loss too, so it's a win - win :)
