I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this with their fur baby.  I was grooming my baby Xena when I noticed that she has what feels like a soft tissue mass near her anus.  It is round and feels like it could be the size of a chic pea.  I was squeezing it a little bit and Xena never gave me any indication that it was causing her pain.  I never noticed it before so I started googling and anal sac blockage/infection came up.  Just to give a little more info, Xena has no tail.  She isn't a full blooded manx but she is some what built like one.  She hops when she runs... in a very cute way !!!! Anyhow, I added that little bit of info because she may not have a lot of feeling in her hind parts. She doesn't always acknowledge that I am touching her when it is in a certain area near her rear.

I AM TAKING HER TO THE VET.

I am only posting this to see if other pet owners have experienced this with their pet and give me their insight about it.  I KNOW that the info given on her does not replace what a vet could say.  Please don't respond to this thread if you are going to tell me to take her to the vet because it is my intention to do just that.   I am just a little nervous because the first thing that comes to my mind is tumor and cancer and that scares me to pieces. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Some one please respond to this thread !!! I am so worried about Xena.  It is 5:48am and it feels like agony to wait until a decent hour to call the vet to see if I can bring her in today.

I just found out my Sara has an abscessed anal gland, but it was the vet that found it after I took her in for something else. It was so hidden too that he noticed it mainly when he went to take her temperature. In her case, it definitely was not comfortable. I'm giving her an antibiotic for it.

Is Xena in pain at all? It's good that you are taking her to the vet, best to be safe for sure. Has she been licking the area at all and/or is there a bald spot?
