Okay so have a 7 week old kitten that i adopted on friday, she seems to be perfectly healthy and happy, she sleeps alot, plays alot,is social and wants to explore. But i cant help but feel she isn't eating enough, she has a bowl with dry food that she can eat from anytime she wants to(I measured how much she ate,she ate only 20g of dry food since friday)and i've given her some wet food too(she ate about 25g of that). Besides that she gets a tine bit of milk 3 times a day(this is dairy milk not kitten milk replacer) and that usually amounts to about 40-50 ml milk a day and i usually give her like a teaspoon of whatever I'm having for dinner(Don't worry i only give her the meat parts). She seems like she has enough energy, and none of her ribs are visible(although you can feel them if you touch her sides). Is my kitty eating enough??

Hi Maura, welcome to TCS.

How much a kitten needs really depends on the amount of calories in the food rather than the actual amount. An adult cat needs around 20 calories per pound of their body weight per day, but active kittens who still have a lot of growing to do need more than this. Check the amount of calories in the food you are giving her to make sure she is getting enough.

Don't let her have cow milk, it's not good for cats and can cause digestion problems. Also, human food contains a lot more salt than cats can tolerate, as well as onions, garlic, seasoning and other things that aren't good for her.

It's better to stick to cat food.

Cute kitten, what's her name?

KMR is really easily available. They sell it at almost every pet store, are you in a rural area? or another country? Another option would be raw goat's milk, but that can sometimes be harder to find. It must be raw goat's milk with no other additives. What about wet kitten food? In my experience kittens like (and have an easier time eating)  wet food better than dry food.

Goat milk is a good alternative.  Cats can't digest cow milk, as other members have pointed out.  Kittens have very small tummies, so it's best to feed them 4-6 small meals a day.  i would do this with the wet food, and leave dry food and water out at all times.

Be careful with feeding her off your plate.  Garlic and onion are toxic to cats.
