Hi! This kitten is a week old today and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if she will be a pointed cat. She also has a dark blue undercoat and I wasn't sure if pointed cats have dark undercoats. He mama is a grey tabby. Thanks!

Probably she is.  If a, say tabby, gets white kittens, Im always suspecting a point.  The first to darken up are the pointed parts, tail, ears, around the nose, and I thik they are beginning to become blue here...

I dont have a pic of it, but her undercoat is a dark gray. Do you think this means she might loose her white/cream?

We will see.  A rare but not unique possibility is, they are mixed points, ie not the usual two genes of the siamese-point type, but one siamese point gene, and one of burmanese point gene...  Such kittens do darken up quickly on the body.   They are dark on the body already at just several months, although obviously points.   And their eyes dont need to be good blue - it varies though with eye color.

The kitten was born white, correct? Then yes, you have a pointed kitten ;)

As for the body, usually when the kitten comes from a line that isn't particularly pointed cats, the body will darken over time. This is because they still have very prominent full colored genes in their system. Breeds that consist only of pointed cats usually keep a nearly white body, but those that are mixed with other colorings as well do get darker bodies. The body will always be ligher than the point parts, but it will certainly darken over time.

I'm curious to see how your little kitten grows up <3

Yes two were born pure white and started to get creamy colored and showing grey on ears just a few days after birth. My sisters cat has had a few litters before this but they were always just tabby or black. I'm really excited about this because I have been wanting amother pointed cat for a while. When my sister asked me jokingly if I wanted to take home a kitten, I told her only if it's pointed, never in a million years expecting for her to actually have not one, but two. I guess it's ment to be lol. I will post more pis as they grow! Thanks for the help

Seeing the pics, I do now think you meant the undercoat was darkening in the point places.    As the kitten DID got his darkened points, but the body is still the usual point creme.

I thought you meant, his undercoat become visibley dark grey over the whole body.  That is why I come with my hypothesis.

Such  is in some cases correct, but not the case here, at least, not as we can see on the contemporary pics.

But look on the parallell tread:" I saved a kitten" - THERE we do have such an example of hastily darkening kitten, whom thus is probably such mixed point genes.

No it is her undercoat that is dark. I can only see it when I part her fur. Even in non pointed places it's dark when you part the fur
