Hello, everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I just have a few questions.

Here's the brief story: A friend's grandmother was giving away kittens. We picked her up today. She's 6 weeks and they've been feeding her this wet cat food. 9Lives. I don't know if that's one can a day? If so, how much do I give? I know it's 3-4 meals a day.

Also, when she goes to the bathroom, her poop is a little runny and kinda orangish. With the holiday coming up, we'll have to take her to the vet on Friday. Is this normal though?

Should she be eating dry food?

We'll be gone for a few hours on Thursday and I'm scared to leave her alone. I know she'll go to the bathroom in the litter box (or so I hope! lol), but what about food? Do I leave out dry for the day?

She's my first kitten, so I guess I'm taking extra precautions and making sure what we give her is okay. Imagine me when I have kids! Lol!

Hi and welcome to TCS.

Your kitten is still very young and many kittens would still be with their mother at this stage.

Generally I say follow advice for feeding quantity with the brand and package that you are using, based on the cat's weight, but also with kittens they rarely over eat so if they are finishing their food and want more I would give it to them.

Wet food is generally better than dry if you can afford it, but with your kitten so young she needs to eat very regularly and if she is going to be left alone for any period I think it is going to be better that she is left with some dry food plus water so she does not go without for too long.  Also a nice warm, soft place that she is familiar with so she doesn't feel too lonely and cold while you are gone.  I'm glad you are only leaving her for a short time of a few hours initially as she might feel quite anxious at this stage.

Lots of good wishes for you and your new fur family, and hope that you have a stress free and healthy vet visit on Friday.
