I will try and make this as short as possible, while giving all the info.  I moved into a new house and that's when my cat started not eating.  I think the stress of a new place caused it.  Also, the other cats and dogs in the house were allowed to go anywhere in the house compared to the apartment before.  She had her own room there.  So now she has a whole different place and daily routine.  I noticed she was losing weight.  Took her to a vet, she got fluids and Mirtazapine to help her eat again, also began force feeding into her mouth.  Then she went downhill fast a few days later.  I had to take her to the ER.  She stayed there for a week.  She was diagnosed with hepatic Lipidosis and was given a feeding tube.  I have her back now and everything is going great, she is gaining weight and I am giving her the food through the tube with medicine at the correct times each day.  The only problem is that she has zero interest in normal food or water.  I have tried just about every food I can think of.  She gags sometimes if I show her food.  I do not know what to do to wean her off the tube and onto normal food again.  What has worked for you guys that have had similar cases?  I ordered Fortiflora recently and I will try that too when I receive it.  I will sprinkle it on her food to see if that works.  I also have been told I can go back on Mirtazapine if I want to, because once she went to the ER, she was not on that anymore.  I am afraid she will get used to being fed through a tube and never want to go back to normal wet or dry food.  Any ideas or questions ?

Recovery from this is a long process.  Just continue with the tube feedings and offering food but don't try to make her eat.  She won't get 'used' to the tube feedings.  It took several weeks for my kitty to begin eating on his own when he had fatty liver.

Okay thanks!

So what I am doing is on the right track?  When I run out of my meds for her (about 1 week left) will they usually put her back on the same meds or will they discontinue the meds and just continue with the feeding tube?  How often should they be fed through the tube?  My ER said 5-6 times a day and that's fine but it would be nice to maybe change that into like 3-4 times so I can get a good night sleep for once haha.

Every kitty is different and each vet has their own recommendation.  Smaller meals are less likely to cause issues with nausea and vomiting;.  I was feeding the Hill's A/D and my vet had me mixing it half and half with water so it was really thin..  I have noticed that many vets don't have people thin the food out that much.  I was feeding 60 mls of the thinned out food 4 times a day which would be 30 mls of food 4 times a day.  I was working 12 hour night shifts 3 nights a week then and even the 4 times a day was difficult for me.   I would ask you vet about feeding a little more less often.

Patches stayed on meds until the tube came out and he was eating well on his own.  Each kitty is different though.  Patches is actually still on the steroid and probably will be for the rest of his life.  His fatty liver was caused by undiagnosed IBD though.  I assume your kitty is on an antibiotic.  It is a good idea to continue that until he is doing well on his own, the liver is in a weakened state right now so it is vulnerable to infection.  The feeding tube also causes a vulnerability to infection.  It is a foreign body and an opening into the body.
