Hi,
6 years ago one of my neighbors cats had a litter of kittens, one was a calico Sally born with only three legs,
my neighbors kept her as a barn cat , I talked them into spaying her so they did. They do not spay/neuter there cats, So now they have 20 barn cats they do not feed them much or pay attention to them.
So Sally had to fight for her food she came to my barn to eat, for the past 6years she has Been going back and forth between ours and their barn
i want to bring her indoors she is the sweetest cat so lovable, So i brought her in She is doing great with getting use to my two dogs and four cats, but she just wants back outside it is so hard when she could be inside with me and get all the food and love she wants
any advice?

Thank you for wanting to help her.  First off, she can adjust to living inside.  She needs a room of her first so that she can slowly get used to living inside.  This room should be cat proofed.  You don't want her going and hiding under a bed or under large furniture.  So pick the bed up or lay it flat if possible.  Or try to block her way under it.  Also watch for blinds or curtains on windows.

Put a litter tray in the in the room on one side and her food and water on the opposite side.

Give her a safe place to hide/sleep.  If possible a nice cat tree or perch.  You can also give her a simple cardboard box with a cozy blanket.

Give her some toys to play with.

Visit her often so that she begins to enjoy your company.  On each visit, bring her something yummy to eat.  This will have her start to associate you with something good.

You can try Feliway plug ins or Composure calming treats too.

I brought a feral/stray into my home over 2 years ago.  He had a room of his own and adjusted to indoor living in a few weeks.  At first he was miserable and threw himself at the windows.  This went on a for a few days.  I would visit often and it helped to calm him.  The feliway helped a lot too and the Composure was  a life saver.

Once she calms down and adjusts, you want to get her to the vet before she interacts with the rest of your animals.  She will need to be wormed as well as vaccinated.

I would do my best to keep her inside and confined.  Outside is all she knows, but she can learn to live inside and enjoy the comforts.  It will just take some time.

i am considering if i really want to bring a fifth cat in the house plus having two dogs, I keep rescuing pets and wanting to keep them all.

I think if you keep her confined in a room 24/7 for a few weeks, she will adjust nicely.  Just after the initial few weeks, be sure not to let her get outside.  The male I brought inside, has never ever tried or wanted to get out after his initial reaction to being kept inside.  The first week was rough, but much easier after that.

I hope you give it a go.  It looks like she could use a wonderful loving home.

Once she settles down i will take her to My
