It's the Monday of a holiday week for those of us here in the US; so I'm focused on all the wrong things this morning.  It doesn't help that we've joined in the cold snap.  Even my 3 year old wouldn't get out of bed this morning.  He was playing with his favorite stuffed buddies.  I asked if he wanted breakfast and he said "No thanks. I'm staying here."

What's on your to-do list this week?

My goals for this week:
  • Deep clean the kids toys; decide what to keep, trash or donate
  • De-clutter the kitchen and my desk
  • Finish dusting
  • Grocery shop for Thanksgiving
  • Friday - Decorate for Christmas!!
My DD was sick last week so we are a couple days behind in school too.  Or off schedule I guess.  I have a kids book and a craft for each day this week too.  Today we are reading a Bernstein Bear book and making "Pocket Pumpkins" that the kids can cut pictures out of things they are thankful for (no one can write full words independently yet) and put them inside their pumpkin.  Which reminds me; I need to gather some magazines worthy of cutting up.
We are making necklaces and foam turkeys tomorrow and Wednesday.  Thanks AC Moor for the $1 crafts!

Do some extra housecleaning to get ready for Thursday

Go to Petco with my 20% off coupon and a coupon I have for $4.00 off a $10.00 Wellness purchase. I need litter and Soulistic too

Last minute grocery shopping on Wednesday for salad fixings

I bought 2 cases of Merrick Thanksgiving Day dinner for the cats at the shelter I got Henry from. They feed donated food so it will be a nice dinner for them on Thursday with probably some leftover for another meal. I need to deliver that by Wednesday.

Do a dump, scrub & refill of the litter boxes

Thaw the turkey breast

  • Finish the cleaning. I did vacuum, dust, etc yesterday, but still have the bathroom to do. Rick said he'd do a quick vacuum on Wednesday night for me, followed by a quick Swiffer in the living room. That's pretty much all I'm worried about.
  • We started cutting the carpet out of the bedroom. A rather tedious task and we need to get it finished, hopefully by this weekend. I think the guy will be coming next weekend to start laying the new floor, so we need to get the flooring into the bedroom and open the cartons as soon as we can.
  • Will make the cranberry relish tonight; that will give it time in the fridge for the flavors to mingle together for Thursday.
  • Wednesday night will be my cooking night: the pies, the iced tea, the gravy, etc.
  • We do plan to go out a bit on Black Friday.
  • The weekend will be spent decorating.
Rick has off work on Monday....it's the first day of buck season and it's a holiday where he works (Only in PA!)

We are contracted by the state of Georgia so we follow their holiday schedule. We are off on Confederate Memorial Day and Robert E Lee's birthday. Welcome to the south, y'all.

:lol3: That goes for me too! (My standard reply to 'How are you' is 'Surviving' ;) )

  • Make more copper bookmarks for my stall (and a few extra for gifts)
  • Ditto more Christmas decorations
  • Repack stock boxes for Saturday
  • Make catnip cat toys
  • Get Christmas cards written and posted (overseas postage takes time)
  • Get my Amazon returns in the post
  • Finish (and start  ) other craft projects for Christmas gifts
  • Clean the holiday cottage on Friday, ready for the next set of guests (cleaned it this morning for today's guests)
  • Collapse in a heap somewhere!

I should have added Survive too.

I just caved and turned the Christmas Radio channel on Pandora.  The volume on the TV was up high and Bing Crosby had Noodles sitting up big eyed looking like "who/what/why/where!??!?!"
I got the same reaction out of both cats when I played this on my phone the other night:

I'm Canadian so it's not a holiday week here. However, I am currently cooking a turkey. Yummy.

This week:
-My daughter has her last neonatal follow up clinic appointment on Wednesday. We've been going to these for 3 years.
-Go through toys on the weekend while she is gone to stay with my mom and sister.
-Get the Christmas decorations out of the crawl space

Not much planned for this week. We will probably go see the festival of lights at some point too. I promised my daughter we will walk through them one day.

If you can hang on til tonight, I'll post the recipe for you. I'm not sure how much sugar to use and want to give you the right amounts. It's easy: apples, oranges, cranberries, sugar. I can never remember how much sugar.

YESSSSSSSSS! This.

Cranberry sauce, cookies, and chocolate mousse cake are made and in the freezer. Everything else will need to be cooked.

I just finished cleaning the house (again). It will need another quick touchup.

We need to get ice.

After everyone leaves on Thanksgiving night, we always go for a drive by WalMart, Target, Best Buy, etc. To see teh people camping in tents. :lol3:

Friday I probably will not get out of my pajamas until at least noon.

My niece had a baby this morning so there is a chance there is a baby visit mixed in there somewhere.

I have to make a trip across the border this week to pick up my meds that aren't available in Canada. It takes an entire day to get there and back and I'm not particularly looking forward to it. Other than that it's just the usual daily working on my paying job, unpacking, laundry, cooking, etc. Also the floors really need cleaning I didn't have a chance to vacuum on Friday.

It's supposed to get really cold tonight and tomorrow so I just stocked up on groceries. I was excited because there was snow in the forecast but now they've taken it out.

Easy week for me.  Deep cleaning is put off till next week so I can get the coax needed before we rearrange furniture...I'm moving the tv to another wall.  I'm down to the actual cooking on Thursday, which will be very simple, it is just Hekitty and me, and a neighbor who will come by in the evening for pie and coffee.

Yeah, sorry, I love the stuff. It's so beautiful, and makes everything so quiet. We don't get much here, so a decent snowfall is a special event. Most places stay closed, including schools, so everybody is home with unplanned time off - what's not to like?

...with the cats...
i'm still working on stacking firewood here, though the very last of it. so i plan on working on that this week. also plan on hooking up the new imac on wednesday (it's scheduled to arrive here tomorrow), then will work on settings/preferences and setting the external monitor as an extended display -- complete with it's own menu bar and dock. i'll also get the last part of the cords/cables under control near the desk the mac is going to be on -- i have that planned out carefully. i'm baking a casserole tomorrow, so that'll be my lunches for 6 days after that. laundry...vacuuming...scooping litter boxes...etc...the usual 'stuff'.

we've now got snow on the ground, though only about a half inch -- but it's there and it's not melting today.

Walking in it

Driving in it

Removing it from walkways, driveways and sidewalks

Slush

Black Ice

Regular ice

Sleet

The cold

The biting wind

Cold, wet feet

Cold face and hands

Having to bundle up

Putting salt down and then having it get all over everything

My friend here says it best

I've been in a cast since the 5th, so hopefully the doctor will take it off Wednesday.  So, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be cleaning and defurring and changing out litter boxes.  And take Eclipse out for walks and sit on the floor and brush Fluffy.  I've taken Eclipse out a couple of times but it's not easy on crutches.

I have to finish wrapping Christmas gifts, started last week and box them to be shipped on Friday. Is the post office open on Friday?  Eclipse was helping.
Stuff is all over the dinning room table.

I need to do laundry, after I find someone to carry it downstairs for me.  I hate having to ask for so much help.

I need to sit down with DH and make a budget since his salary was just reduced by 20%.  Also need to find my resume, update it and find a job.

Steve will do most of the cooking on Turkey day but I will make a couple salads.
