OK, am I losing my mind, or am I looking at a male calico?  I swear I see black, cream, and white.  You know, only about 1 in 3000 tri-colored cats are male, having an XXY chromosome, and of those, only 1/10,000 are fertile?  I've never seen a male calico before.  Now I'm doubly glad you saved him.  We knew he was a rare and special kitty, now I know just how even more rare he is!

Actually I hadn't really paid much attention to the cream color, yes he is black, white , cream and gray, so I guess that would make him calico?

If Meeko is truly a tri colored kitty, he actually would be my third tri colored male. My first one was given to my by my brother for my birthday as a kitten, my mom said it had to be female because it was white, brown and black, well 6 months later while doing " Chelsea's " make up " she " rolled over and I made the discovery that she was in fact a he... The second one was born from a black polydactyl female cat we had found in a bag along the highway before her eyes had even opened. I had not paid much attention to the cream because I had shaved him so short I figured it was just his skin color, after it was pointed out I actually looked at the hairs and they are creamish yellowish. I was told he was neutered but I can not for the life of me find a scar or even the remnants of a sack. Although I know for a fact he has a penis lol

He seems to have a lighter color mixed in. I'd rather not say for sure until it has grown out. My eyes kind of suck so lol

I have the upmost respect for you.U did a truely remarkable loving jestute taking this poor defenseless baby and literally saved his life, I loved your analogy of the shoe: BRAVO!!!! I don't trust people who do not like animals, if they can do that to them you know they will treat people the same. I believe in KARMA, YOU and your family will receive wonderful feedback. Actually I think it's happening already, your teaching your children too be kind, loving and respectful of the unfortunate.Your truely a wonderful example of what human nature is all about. I'm so glad I followed this thread. My Damien was a throw away who was battered. So I know how you feel inside, only I never had the opportunity to find the cowards.

I really do believe karma is coming back on us. When i got Meeko I was also feeling with a unhappy customer who had let her standard poodle go months without even brushing and combing him ( I mean really) well he broke out about a week after having been groomed and long story short the woman would not listen to even the bet that I had not hurt him, she began posting all over craigslist telling people that I cut up his face ( which I had never done even when I had first started) she posted pictures of me having told her how childish she was acting because she wanted her money back a month later and after she had already told me she didn't want the money back... Thank fully no one believed her lies and I have actually seen a spike in clientele since that woman did what she did. We were struggling before I started grooming again ( all my supplies was in storage ) and now we can actually kind of breath again. Good news though!! Meeko actually came downstairs on his own today , although not for long lol

I'm glad to here your Damien found a loving home too!!! I hate seeing animals suffer. I am a farm brat so I unfortunately have an odd view on animals. I don't believe they should be caged or abused or neglected. I know this isn't a popular view but when I here about animals being euthanized because no one wants them , and they were spending their entire life in a cage, it doesn't make me sad because a life in a cage is worse than no life at all. ( although I would never deliberately hurt an animal) I feel like caging an animal for their life is torture in itself and a miserable life.

I agree, I've never chained or caged my dogs, all my animals shared my bed,ate my food & Sydney LOVES warm tea with coffee mate right out of my tea cup. I know it grosses most people out , but this cat has saved my life twice.( another story) this is about you. So you go on sister with your bad self!!! I think everyone is proud of you and very relieved there is a great outcome!

You have done a wonderful job with Meeko, Your kindness and compassion towards animals is genuine. I wouldn't hesitate one second to bring a pet for you to groom.  I think there are a lot of other people on this site that think the same. By chance are you near Toronto ? I know a few people looking someone to groom their pets.

I am out on the east cost in Virginia [emoji]128512[/emoji][emoji]128512[/emoji] near Virginia beach ! I love it here... I do pretty good on clientele. Everyone I have groomed for ( other than the one lady) have become regualars ! And I'm always meeting new clients. I also train service dogs at a highly discounted rate for people who genuinely need one. Like a little boy I am training for who needs his dog to help him walk and move his wheel chair.

It doesn't gross me out... My mom has a picture somewhere of me eating a price of pizza (13yrs old) and my twin kittens (both solid black polydactyl ) each on one side eating too! [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji] they were my babies. But sadley one was hit by a car, and the other is probably long dead by now, she ran off and then came back just to have her babies and left again. I also grew up with two chihuahuas and the older one harpo would drink my dads coffee the moment he got up to do something ( dad didn't care because harpo actually saved me and my friend from a pit that was a fighting dog that attacked us) [emoji]128514[/emoji] my bobcat mix kisses my face and completely adors me. And Meeko is on his way to being just as loving. He does let me pet his belly and will even roll over when I ask him, so that's already a huge step in trust

Well, if we  have orange (full or dilute), black and white, you have a male calico.  The pattern is atypical...it almost looks like he was trying to be a tortie and gave out of steam before he got all the colors stirred together
As for bad eyes...I can totally sympathize, and my glasses are 12 years old and nearly useless.  We'll have another look when he "furs over" and try to decide.  Whatever he is, he is gorgeous!

Hmmm I thought he was a black and white kitty, I need to get my eyes checked LOL
That's what I thought when I saw the first photo, pre-shave.  I didn't pay a lot of attention to the patterning on the post-shave photos, till I saw the two with the boys, when the fur had partially come in, then I went back and looked at the shaved photos...there's a very "cat in gray flannel pjajmas" look to him.  When Hekitty had her first, severe bout with allergies, she lost ALL of her fur, except her paws, tail tip and head.  She had the same look to her, so it made me wonder.

Gosh...in terms of USA and world wide, we're practically neighbors.  I'm on the East coast of North Carolina, just inland from Atlantic Beach.
