I'm sure everyone here is tired of cat vomit threads, but just hoping to get another opinion or some insight :)

So I adopted my kitty, Jesse, last May (have had him a little over 7 months) - he'll be 4 in February.  My previous cat literally never vomited, so I have no experience with what I should be worrying about and what I shouldn't be worrying about etc.

So in mid-October, Jesse vomited on 2 separate occasions a couple days apart (before that, the only time he had ever vomited was a hairball during the summer months). I noticed that I had given him chicken Fancy Feast before both of these incidents, so I cut that out completely and switched him over to lamb ziwipeak.

All was well until a couple weeks ago. I had changed the flavor of ziwipeak over to beef to give him some variety. About 3 days after starting him on the ziwipeak beef, he puked up on my bed at about 3:30AM - it looked very much like a hairball with some liquid. I had been slacking in brushing him lately, so I started brushing him again. About 3 days after that incident, he puked up again at around the same time (4AM). The vomit was liquid again but contained hair as well, although not quite a hairball-like form. 4 days after that (last night), he vomited again - hair in the vomit again but not really a "hairball". There was also a tiny bit of foamy white stuff? In addition, I noticed some softer stool in his litterbox this morning - not quite pale liquidy diarrhea, but more like softer "piles" in form if that makes sense.

I'm unsure at this point if it is due to the food (since this did start when I started him up on the ziwipeak beef - or is it just a coincidence?), hairballs (since there's been hair in the vomit consistently), or that he's hungry as its right before he usually eats his morning meal. I should mention that he has never stopped eating or having an appetite at all and he is playful as normal. His litterbox behavior has been fairly normal as well (regular stools daily with the exception of this morning and one other diarrhea incident last week).

Any ideas? I'm going to try cutting out the beef ziwipeak first and maybe put him back on a food with lamb. Has anyone ever had a cat that had similar episodes of vomiting? (i.e every few days at the same time pretty consistently?). I'm probably going to call the vet after the next vomit episode, but was just curious about what it could be?

Thanks!
