Cats behavior immediately changes from bad to good hearing a kitten meow?

So Jynx has been extremely hyper and destructive the past couple weeks. (Tearing up toilet paper, hopping on tables to knock things off, tipping her water over, scratching/jumping at walls) No idea what's gotten into her. Was watching a cute kitten video with them meowing. She immediately quit what she was doing (nothing good), ran to where I was, hopped on my belly then started kneading and loudly purring. Now she's sound asleep in my lap. Motherly instinct kicking in?

Shes 6/7 months, hasnt gone into her first heat. She is trying to bolt out the door recently and cries a completely different meow at times. Would a new kitten in our home help her instincts and behavior?

Her behavior also changed now that im pregnant. She knew before we did. Suggestions?

It sounds like she's just going into her first heat to me.

I personally wouldn't bring another cat in now until after she's been spayed - journey might want to think about booking her spay appointment now ;)

I totally agree. Her hormones are clearly at play here and that's not necessarily a good thing, for her behavior or health. She may purr at the sound of a kitten but could still be hostile if you bring her one at this point, especially if she goes out of heat. Spaying her is the best solution. Once she's spayed and calm again, introducing a kitten to your household is definitely an option, if you are ready to care for two cats, financially and otherwise

My issue is denying her the right to bear children. In the future we may be ready for tiny kitkats. Human or feline, i dont want to take away what our womanily purpose is .....

Cats don't care about having kittens they way most women care about having kids. A cat's reproductive cycle is totally different to a human's anyway. A cat will cycle rapidly in and out of heat until such time as they become pregnant. Almost as soon as they've had the litter, the cycle begins again. Imagine having near constant PMT - its definitely not much fun!

Spaying removes the risk of some cancers too, and not spaying cat puy your cat at risk of developing other - potentially life threatening - diseases.

Lastly, think of all the unwanted cats in shelters desperately waiting for homes. Breeding from your girl will take homes away from cats that need them.[article="0"][/article][article="30348"][/article]
