Help! My cat Jaycee is five years old and has always been a very moody cat. She is spoiled but I love her, and her moody mood swings. I like to think I'm a really good pet owner, I take her to the vet for check ups, I make sure she is healthy and get properly. She is a rather picky animal, she only drinks from a running tap, she snubs wet food, like she has never had a taste for it. And by taste I mean she looks at it, doesn't even go to smell it and turns from it. She pees on anything on the floor. She doesn't like fabric on the floor. I mean her litter is clean and she will go out of her way to pee on the rug in the washroom, or a sock that wasn't picked up off the floor right away. This is not because of uti's or anything like that she has been doing it since she was about 2 and fell from a three story building balcony while in the care of my mother. She was fine, just scared and chipped a tooth. I should say she is not fixed, she's an indoor cat, and I refuse to let her out, should she get out I chase her down and have her back inside in minutes. But any time she is in heat she will religiously clean her genitals and growl at herself. Since her first heat this has been an oddity of hers, also her sticking her butt up and kicking her feet back like she is kicking dirt back. She's a weirdo but she is my weirdo.

Anyways today the first time in the five years I have had her, I was there when she was born. She went into the litter box and began growling like she does when she is in heat(she is now) but this is different I saw her in the litter box while she was growling. She never does this. Ever. I went over and watched her for a good three minutes, her tail twitching like she was trying to pee. However when she finally left the litter box she hasn't peed at all. I checked for blood or anything like that and nothing. But I'm worried. I don't know what is wrong. Is she just being a crazy cat in heat? Or is this something more severe? She is drinking and eating the same amount. She is still wanting just as much affection and she is still swatting away my two kittens when they try to play with her, as she has done since I got them.

She's doing it again for the second time now. It's like she's trying to push something out.

You have to get her to the vet ASAP. It sounds like she may have a blockage. Apart from being incredibly painful, there's a risk of death if she isn't treated quickly.

Hope she's ok :vibes:

I agree with Columbine!!

A Vet visit is urgent. This is considered an emergency!! Please get your baby to the Vet.

If she is blocked, her urine can back up and cause severe kidney damage in addition to bladder damage. It is very bad- a life or death situation..

While she is still eating, that is good, but she needs to see a Vet before more damage is done...

let us know the outcome!

Please do take her in. My girl Sara often hides how she feels and the first time, I had no idea there was something wrong until she was freaking out trying to pee everywhere. Now I know what to look for, but take advantage of the fact that it is probably still something early for her. Don't wait until she's freaking out trying desperately to go.

Sounds like there could be an underlying issue from the fall years ago.  Also, it can be dangerous to have a cat go into heat over an over because of the risk of infection, not to mention the stress on her body from the hormones.  Have you considered spaying her?

Glad she's peed some, but great to hear she's seeing the vet tomorrow. Definitely better safe than sorry in these situations.

I am also very happy to hear that she peed!! but not happy it wa on your shirt.. but, think of this: she loves you, she knew how worried you were about her peeing. She did it on your shirt so that you would definitely see it and feel better.

I am also glad she is going to see the Vet.. yes, very important...

((hugs))

Keep us updated...

thanks
