My cats stopped being interested in any brand of wet food so they are really cheap now. I barely ever have to buy treats since they just get them for after teeth brushing or nail clipping. I buy a 13 pound bag of Nutrisca cat food for $24 dollars. It lasts about two months feeding my two cats. So it costs $6 a month per cat.

I bought some turkey canned food for Thanksgiving, hoping that maybe I'll be able to pique their interest in it again.
Try to get them eating wet also and they have less health issues later in life!

Hekitty will not touch wet food.  I've seen her go 4 days without eating, until I gave in and put the dry out.  I feed her Pure Balance, although I will be changing brands after the first of the year.  One bag lasts a bit over 2 months, and costs just under $14, so about $7 in food.

I wanted to get her on at least one can a day, but...no deal.  No cans, no human food, no "natural" wet diet.  Kibbles.  My girl wants her kibbles.  I do, however, have 4 water bowls out now, to encourage drinking.  Dunno about her kidneys (tho they seem fine) but her teeth are exceptional.

 My cats are like yours @Mamanyt1953  they only want their kibbles. They drink a ton of water though, so I don't worry too much about kidney problems. One of their bowls is often empty before I fill it again when I get back from work.

I have one cat; I buy one bag of ONE hairball dry every 2-3 weeks. It's about $8 for a 3.5 pound bag. He usually gets a couple cans of Sheba a week, but doesn't seem to mind going a week or two without that. I've bought a more expensive grain free dry, but after initially liking it, he completely stopped eating it, due to the size of the pieces; too big.

So I spend about $25. Not counting the people food he nibbles on, of course. [emoji]128568[/emoji]

Try Merrick grain free kibble in yellow bag, very tiny, my cats love it. Try to at least feed 50/50 wet if you have a boy cat to help prevent urinary troubles down the road.
We had the cats on Merrick and they both got really sick after having eaten it with no trouble for several months, switched food and everything got better. The kibbles are wonderfully small though so great for cats that don't like chomping down on big kibbles. We use Nutrisca now which has kibbles that are similarly sized.

It is our male cat that is a problem when it comes to wet food. I know that he must have been raised on wet before he was adopted out the first time since this is the policy of the shelter I got him from. However once adopted and shuffled around for two years, he had stopped eating it. They offer both wet and dry to adult cats and he wouldn't touch it anymore.

Our younger cat was weaned off it by her foster mom before she came to us. We were able to get her eating it for a while, but she eventually stopped being interested in any of it and being more excited about the dry kibble.

Yes if given a choice they all prefer kibble, you have to slowly wean them off, get them eating just wet, then if you want to reintroduce it you can. That's what I did for my girl, boy stays on all wet. I went through the blockage nightmare with a prior boy, never again, it cost thousands!

I've never worked out exactly how much I spend, but I'm caring for 22 semi-feral cats and I'm paying Japanese prices so I'm sure it's well over $150 a month.

I shop around, look for bargains, bulk buy anything that's on offer and take full advantage of the cheap, online shopping sites. They get wet, dry and cooked chicken daily, different brands and flavours depending on what I get.

This week they're on;

* Sheba Duo Selection dry.

* Ginnosupon Dry.

* Kurokan tuna mix wet.

* Mon Petit Pate. Turkey, chicken and mixed fish flavours.

They catch birds, mice and the occasional lizard too.

I feed raw so I pay $56 per month but that's without the cost of supplements which I don't have to buy often. I'm feeding 4 cats and 2 dogs for that amount. My mom buys the food for the ferals which is almost $40 for a month two large bags of dry food and we buy whole turkey when on sale.

I buy in bulk from Zooplus. Royal Canin dry + Almo Nature wet (occasionally a different wet if an equivalent quality is on special). I spend a total of €0.85/day total for two cats. €26.50/month since I usually buy a bag of treats about once a month.

I have three kittens. I feed them 9lives wet twice a day  and I buy the big bag of Purina Kitten food that is about 13 a bag. The bag does 2 months. I can do it for about 50 a month. Thats not counting treats. I finally found some they like the Temptations dairy. That's about 6 a month. Then if I am cooking chicken they get a small piece of that.

I guess it is over 75 but under 100.

4 cats that are mostly indoors, but with daily adventures to outdoors.

Now there is +1 cat that I have to care for until I find out who owns her (or more like who is her humble follower and slave).

My cats get wet can of wet food and free feed with Purina/Friskies dry food, moles and some mice from the yard.

That food works, I have one that is bit problematic eater, once he turned yellow and had to visit some time in hospital, because of quality brand kitty food, cheaper seems to work for him better.

Cost of wet food is about 50% of total sum and dry food is another 50%

Sometimes they get also real meat or fish if I have extra money available.

One cat on Blue Ridge Beef kitten mix (chicken beef egg bones organ meat) costs around $40 per month. She gets 4-4.5 oz per day. Split into 3 feedings. It was what the breeder started her on and recommended keeping her on. She also gets NuVetFeline Plus supplement sprinkled on her food.

About $60.00 per month for 2 cats, that includes wet food twice daily and dry food for grazing during the day. I also make sure I keep a good selection of flavors.

Never measured exactly, since I buy the dry from one place and the canned from another (and at different frequencies). I'd guesstimate about $100-$125 though. We have four cats currently, two of which are very hungry kittens. We have Science Diet for the dry food - the biggest bag they have for seniors lasts a few months, amazingly enough. Then we get the biggest bag they have of Science Diet for indoor kittens, which also lasts a few months.

I buy the canned food as much as possible online (from Amazon). We get the seafood pate variety pack of Friskies (32 cans) and the seafood grilled variety pack of Fancy Feast (24 cans). The canned was originally meant as a treat for them. We free-feed the dry food. They each get a half can of the Friskies Mon-Sat, and on Sundays they each get a full can of Fancy Feast. Sounds like they don't get a lot but they eat plenty of the dry, plus whatever they can convince my mom to give them during the day. The one kitten has eaten five times in the last two hours from his dry food bowl! Anyway, so 32 cans at that rate of the Friskies lasts us... almost 3 weeks? Fancy Feast lasts about 6 weeks since we only use 4 cans a week.

With boy cats be cautious of too much seafood and too much grain in dry food, both seem to cause issues later in life.

I'll probably be having a conversation with my vet soon anyway regarding diet. After what I went through with Lucky, if there is a way to lower the risk of kidney disease, I want to do it. This thread is the first I've seen bad things about seafood so will have to further look into it.

Anyway, the amount I'm spending will possibly be increasing soon once Sara is started on a kidney diet.
