Just out of curiosity...how much do you pay for an exam for your kitty?

I juat paid 42.50 for a recheck..which is not a full exam. Full exam is about 10 bucks more than that. Seems to be the typical going rate around here.

Where I am its any where from 15 dollars to 56 for well check visits depending on where you call. Sick visits are usually double that of a well check.

Many vets here have a reduced or no fee for animals brought in for yearly vaccinations. 40-60 $ is pretty normal.

$70 for a full general exam. Vaccinations, blood work, medicine, etc are separate fees so the actual vet bill is higher in the end. Cost will vary among depending on location,  full service hospital vs small clinic, etc. Low cost clinics are an option for those who need vet care but can't afford typical fees.

Ya know, I took a foster (now my own!) to a low cost place once for an exam and vacs...they didnt take appointments and it was in a gym..all open and very stressful for the cats, and a seriously long wait. Ended up only saving 10 bucks.

Those are really only geared for dogs and not at all save for your cat.

...with the cats...
the 'office' and 'annual wellness check' visits are the same at my vet's -- $48. there's a multi-cat discount for more than one cat brought in the same day. vaccines, tests, etc, all cost extra. now, the vet's in the veterinary practice i go to can elect not to charge for the office visit at their discretion, and they've done that a few times for me.

There is a cat clinic in the nearest city that charges about that. If it was not such a gruesome trip with two cats at the same time I would choose them every time.  Veterinary medicine has become so specialized you almost need a vet that has a more specific practice.

It all depends on if's a full service hospital or smaller general health clinic, like LTS3 said. I just called around my area to find a new vet for my new kitty and the full service hospital was $57. A clinic I went to in the past was $45, which was higher than about 3 other places I've been to, which were $35. I settled on a clinic that I know has been around forever and a day and they charge $35. If my cat ever needs testing or services done that my clinic cannot pay, they'll have referrals to hospitals that do, like human doctors. I think this is the best way to go. :)

Goodness, it has been so long since I've had any "regular" visits, I don't really know what the office fee costs. It's probably in one of the many invoices I have. Between Lucky, Sara and the kittens, I've been to the vet more often this year than in the last ten!

I don't think they have charged me for the "office visit" part for Lucky for awhile, since I've been having to pay for lots of tests and supplies the last few weeks.

How about mobile vets? They run from 105-125 per visit here.

My vet charges $15 for a regular exam fee (like an annual/preventive care exam) and a $30 exam fee if the animal you bring in is sick/injured.

The $15 preventive check exam fee is the best I've found in the city (I live in an urban area - my state's capital city).   And if you're a regular customer, 9 times out of 10 the Dr will just charge you $15 for the exam fee, regardless of the reason you're bringing in your pet.   I got very lucky to find my vet - he's very capable and kind, and I really trust him to do the right thing for my pets.

Of course, that is just the exam fee and any services or medication the animal gets would be additional charges.......

It depends on which vet I use - I have 2 regular vets or my cats and they are bith aware of it as they commonly see the others patients. 1 is a regular vets office with normal daytime hours and the other is an ER hospital 24/7.

I usually pay $40. at the regular vets for an office visit, $25 recheck. The bloodwork and any other specialty items - xrays, ultrasounds are extra. anges from $69. on up.

The ER vet charges $57. for an office visit, $27. for a recheck. The bloodwork and other items are extra and ranges from $30. on up.

Not cheap here where I live and as far as I know there aren't any low cost vets here though they may sometimes have donated funds on a rare occasion.

I have two vets, one for my 14 year old and one for my 7 month old. For my 14 year old at her vet an office visit is $45. When we took our 7 month old to the vet his total bill was $104 and some change. However, our 7 month old got a check-up, a rabies vaccine, FortiFlora, a stool sample.

For my 14 year old (I'm looking back at her invoice's) if she is only getting Vaccines, depending upon the vaccine, it's between 8 and 20 bucks.

For my 7 month old (also looking at the invoice) Office visit is 49. Plus I had to pay for Rabies Vaccine, FortiFlora, Stool sample, and biohazard disposal fee.

Sara went to the vet last Tuesday, and the check-up fee was $65. Of course she had labs, x-rays, etc done so the total was a LOOOOT more than that.
