I wondered if anyone had any idea of the carbohydrate level of regular 4Health canned cat food. With 3 cats eating canned food, I'm looking around for budget breaks wherever I can.

Their large cans are only 99 cents each.

It's a bit hard to say, with a guaranteed analysis not being a 100% picture. Putting the values from the 4health pages on Tractor Supply into carb calculators seem to be roughly 10-14% in dry matter carbohydrates (depends on the calculator). But that could lower or increase depending on the actual protein, fat, and ash levels.

I already use their grain free varieties. Just was curious about the varieties that include grain.

After taking a closer look though, I'm inclined to skip because, IIRC, one variety in the large cans had fish and the other had brown rice. I don't want my cats eating brown rice, because of arsenic content.

You are correct. They have a chicken & brown rice and a turkey & salmon. There is more variety in the 5.5 ounce cans. They have chicken, indoor chicken, chicken & beef and turkey & salmon.

I skip this brand too because I don't go to TSC very often and I wouldn't make a special trip just for the grain free turkey & giblets cans even though the store is minutes from my job. I can get something they like better at Petco or Petsmart and they are on the way when I have to do my grocery shopping.

Yes, availability of stores makes a big difference. We don't have Petco or Petsmart in my town and TSC is right near my husband's work.

I find that most of my cat food purchases are split between chewy.com and TSC. I use the grain free turkey and giblets from TSC a lot.

I have a Petco, Petsmart and Pet Supermarket all within walking distance of each other. Pet Supermarket is kind of a joke though. I'm surprised that they are able to stay open with the other 2 so close by. They have a pretty weak selection of canned cat foods and their prices aren't great either.

I get a lot of stuff though my Amazon subscribe and save and I use  Petco and Petsmart for a lot of the rest. Wal Mart for Friskies unless one of the others is having a sale.

It must be great to have so many options!

At least veterinary care is pretty cheap, where I live. My vet works with farm animals and pets and his prices are very reasonable.

I also have Amazon Prime. I'm noticing that sometimes chewy.com is cheaper and sometimes Amazon is cheaper. So it pays to price compare.

Do you know what the price of Friskies is at Wal-Mart? Wal-Mart is one store that we do have here.

Yeah it is nice. Petsmart accepts Petco's (and other competitor's) coupons so that's good too.

Wal Mart gets .48 for a 5.5 ounce can and $1.08 for a 13 ounce can. I don't use the big cans often because I like to mix and match meals a lot (I mix proteins and textures to make the meal more interesting). Dollar Tree has the 13 ounce cans for $1. My cats will not eat canned food if it has been refrigerated- even warmed.

I'm going to have to look at Dollar Tree for cat food. I paid $1.09/13 oz at Tractor Supply.

Just curious, if I may ask, how do your cats know that food has been refrigerated?
