Hi trusted cat community!

Three weeks ago I added a teeny tiny rescue cat to my family (me and my adult male). I took the introductions slowly and now they are inseparable! Its such a joy to see them play and cuddle together.

My new bundle of joy Ozzy is a wild and crazy kitten and 100% fearless. This means despite his small size he is not afraid to play rough with his brother (little one instigates) climb anything he can find etc.

Yesterday when i cam home I noticed Ozzy had a limp. I tried to feel and press on the leg, shoulder and chest but he did not react at all. In fact he continued to play and run and jump but with a slight limp.

Since he was not in distress I decided to leave it and observe. Today I feel it has not improved and he is a little more hesitant to put weight on it, yet he is STILL jumping and playing and happy and of course eating and using the litter box as normal.

Since I never had any health issues with Addy I dont know what to do. Surely if he had a fracture or something broken he would react when i touch it? and not want to run and play? or is it just him being a kitten and ignoring the pain and he needs a vet visit?

Cats can be very good at hiding pain. I would probably err on the side of caution and take him to a vet, particularly as you've observed it's getting worse.  All the running and playing he is doing may also be aggravating the situation.

Good luck getting this figured out, and please keep us updated!

For peace of mind, I'd probably get him to the vet, especially since it seems he's hesitant to put weight on it.  I have a cat that did something similar when he was a kitten.  It required a few days of a steroid and he was back to his normal self soon.

Yes, if it hasn't gotten better he should be taken to a vet, that way you know if something is actually wrong! Better safe than sorry.

Good news! Ozzy just came home from the vet.It was probably just a bruised ligament which will take longer to heal then the usual stretched or bruised muscle but he will be ok. Of course once he was at the vet he didnt limp as much as he did at home (me to the vet: "he was limping i swear!") but when she put alot of pressure on his paw he squealed.

Either way at least I get a peace of mind!

Kittens are crazy and these kind of things happen.  Glad you got him to the vet and that it's not something more serious (like a break).  Hoping he's well soon!
