Yesterday my sister adopted a new kitten, and i have a 3 year old aratinga canicularis ( Orange fronted parakeet ), So any way i have doing some research on how to introduce them, but the real problem is how to get my parrot to get along whit the kitten, because she really has ángel problems ( I am triying my best to make her happier :) )
Thanks for your time

I have had birds and cats in the past, and never before the last year have I worried about making proper introductions and everyone got along fine.  So, I am not sure the proper way to introduce them, other than to treat them both in site of each other so they associate each other with good things, protect them both from harm until they get used to each other, and hope for the best!

I will say that your pets natural curiosity about each other will bring them together.  Their natural defenses against each other will teach them boundaries.  The amusement and entertainment they bring to each others lives will bind them together.  These things just take time.  Try to not to stress too much over it as both animals will pick up on your stress levels.  Enjoy each day for what it brings. Best of luck to you.

Hello, i was wondering if any one here knows how to que my parrot ( aratinga canicularis ) to like my new kitten. I have let them meet and let their curiosity do the work, but my parrot just does not like the kitten, she bites the kitten really hard and somethimes screams reall loud. Please help and thanks for your time

I have four indoor cats and a Blue & Gold Macaw, and the cats have learned to give the bird a wide berth. The bird doesn't really bother much with the cats and vice versa, but I try to keep them apart as the Macaw could easily injure the cats, and the cats could easily injure the macaw. The Macaw will probably bite the cats if given the chance, but the cats sort of avoid getting too close as the macaw is somewhat aggressive and makes them nervous. I know of several people with smaller birds that get along well with the family cat...sometimes flying down to pester and play with them. Since parrots typically bond to one person, they can get protective if someone else is getting attention. I doubt that you will get the parrot to stop biting the cats, but birds are difficult to break their habits and it would probably be easier for the cats to avoid the bird instead of the other way around. Some birds are easier to train and get along with than others, so your luck and experience may vary.
