This 8 week old kitten that I've helped raise with my neighbor doesn't drink water or eat dry food yet.  It only likes the expensive canned kitten food, which costs $1.49 a can, and she's eating about 4 a day now.  Is she getting enough water with the food?

I really can't afford this canned food.  What do you suggest?

Wet food is providing a good amount of hydration for the kitten. I'm sure the kitten will eat dry food if it has to, but try to find a deal on the wet food if you can. Online ordering through places like Amazon can be cost effective. Sometimes local coupons can have good deals.

I'm sure there are some home recipes you can cook, but I'm not experienced enough to give insight on the subject; perhaps one of the advisors know something? Good luck!

You could try mixing the wet food you're feeding now with another brand to slowly wean her off.  She can also be drinking KMR out of a bowl for extra fluids, or you could soak the dry food in KMR.  She may get all she needs from wet food, or you may not see her use the water bowl.  Leave clean water out always anyway.

Canned food provides plemty of water but you also need to have bowl of fresh water available just in case. You can add some water to the canned food as well. IMO, if the kittens eats canned food there is no reason at all to feed dry food.

Have you tried the canned Fancy Feast Kitten formula? It's inexpensive so you can stock up since growing kittens need to eat a lot.
