I have recently found out my precious 8 month old kitty is FeLV positive. I discover this when I got him fixed, when I brought him home he stopped eating and started looking and acting very ill. The vet sent me home with some special food and enercal and sent me on my way. After another two days and no improvement I brought him back to the vet very worried. They put him on fluids and tested him and it came up positive. They then sent me home with syringes and told me to force feed him but did not talk to me about anything else I could do. Since then he has been getting a lot better after getting some food and the enercal in him. It's been about 5 days and he looks and feels a lot better and is eating like a pig again on his own! [emoji]128570[/emoji] My question is, I have been doing a lot of research on holistic remedies as I don't have much money and I don't want to put all those chemicals into his body regardless, and stumbled across Aloe Vera. So I got a plant and have been mixing some in his food. Does anyone have any experience with this? And does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks so much!

Hi atmosphere1822 !

Seventeen years ago, in 1997, a specialized online community started up...it was a group of people whose cats were living with Feline Leukemia....today, they are still there, and in those 17 years have seen thousands of people with their FeLV+ kitties join up and get help. These people are the real experts in dealing with all aspects of managing this virus.....information on the latest treatments, clinical drug trials...the whole gamut of care and support.

I lost a kitty with FeLV in 2004......at a time when I was not aware of this kind of group......with what I know today, if the same situation occurred again, the very first thing I'd do would be to join up with that group.

They "work" with an email system (so it looks different from a forum format such as this site)......get yourself a brand new email addy strictly for the group....

You'll find their sign-up page here: http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

This is their website: http://felineleukemia.org/

Keep us up to date!

How horrible to have this happen
.   As far as I know there is no cure for FeLV, but some cats can do well with certain supplements and/or medis and stress free environments, and others go downhill no matter what you do.

Maybe something in this thread will be helpful to you:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/292151/7-month-old-felv-treatment
