I have a kitten I have been bottle-feeding since she was a week old, and she is eight weeks now. She has been eating Royal Canin Babycat dry kibble for a little over two week (won't touch the Royal Canin Babycat wet food unless I mix it with KMR and put it in a bottle), and a few days ago (at 7.5 weeks), finally gave up her bottle and now drinks her KMR from a shallow dish.

When should I stop offering her KMR? I've tried giving her water a few times and she hasn't been interested yet, but when she finally starts drinking the water should I stop putting the KMR out or should I offer her both KMR and water?

Thanks!

Should and should.  Its sooner a stepwise process.  You CAN stop it now if necessary.  But if not necessary, you can just calmly phase it out.  Its good nourishment after all.

Change perhaps to goat milk - say commercial bottled / cartooned, and give as supplement.  Its cheaper too than high quality  KMR, even if goat milk in itself is at least twice as costly as common cow milk.

Also, bottle babies are typically slower with beginning to eat 100% on their own.  No momma nor siblings to be their positive example.

Yes actually, thank goodness! I have been offering her both water and KMR, and two days ago, I caught her drinking out of the water dish. I was so happy! :D

I'm still offering her both since I still have some KMR left, but at least I know when I run out, she should be fine drinking water!
