Darn my big heart for cats I have 3 rescues one adopted at adoption day at a pet Co He is 10 yrs old now he was 7 mnths old then but sweet as could be even tho they told me he had started life as a feral brought in hit by a car with every worm & flea. He was & is a lover altho obese he is a table scrap begged I have never allowed that before but couldn't say no to Banditt who got the name for stealing chicken or ham or anything off my daughters plate if she tried to watch TV on the floor & eat the second she wasn't looking he was off running it was hysterical! !

I have 2 barn cats born from a feral mother trapped just before she gave birth so the kitties not feral I took 2 girls had them spay & tagged now my mistake I'm so sorry & worried I just wasn't thinking, a tiny kitty shows up at our patio door playing with my cats Tru the screen I have a pond & many animals are drawn for the water she came to drink from pond she heard waterfall, she was small maybe 5 months old I begin feeding her outside every morning at first she would wait right by door at meal time & then run out of site as I brought the food & fresh water bowl out daily then she would wait right under the lounge chair 2 feet away as we started putting temptation treats on top she would forget her del & walk up to bowl while my hand was still on it to grab that treat which I swear is kitty heroine how my cats r addicted lol but as the noise of the closing patio door she would run back under.

One day while I was eating cereal I was on the ground by patio door she was out there somehow she knew even that screen closed meant she was safe from me & she would walk right up so I opened the door and put milk down inside the house. She came inside, drank the milk & left then I got her inside with lunch meat & I closed the door bcz it's getting cold but I had no way to just catch her even her being caught that day I didn't plan it just happened. Now my vet said I can borrow a cage to bring her in she will sit very close in livingroom every night with us & play she will eat from my hand something she really likes but I can't get near her.

My mistake I wasn't thinking I exposed her to my babies she is a kitty & looks so healthy but from what I read I made a big mistake & I am scared I love my babies the girls are almost 4 years old now my big boy likes her the girls don't I think it's bcz she is also female & she is not spay yet I am bringing her next week to vet when I get another paycheck I know all I need to do may cost a lot spay blood work shots, I don't know how to tame her to trust me I'm leaving now for pet Co to get a fishing pole toy she loves all our mice & toys but I read those help interaction & help in trust she will sit 2 feet from us & play all night or sleep but the second we stand get off the couch she runs.

Have I doomed my cats by brining her in, oh I'm so scared I can't wait to get her to the vet putting her out is stupid one I want to give her a forever home even tho I never wanted 4 cats & never would have adopted her had she been sitting in the pet Co adoption cage. But she was tricky she snuck in the backdoor my scamper. That's her name bcz that's her scampering off lol.

Any help on how to tame & gain trust of my wild cat? She isn't too bad I think I woke up once & she was sleeping on my bed by me with my big cat when I woke she ran off

Most likely she is a stray cat with some feral tendencies.  She would not have run into your home or jumped on your bed if she was a true feral.  Nevertheless, she may have been out on her own for awhile and developed feral tendencies.

How do you plan on getting her into the carrier?  Please get her to the vet ASAP.  Is there any way to lure her into a room of her own?  It would make it much easier to catch her and it would also allow her time to readjust to indoor living.  If this room is a bedroom be very cautious of beds.  The cat will make a bee line for under the bed.  It's bed to lay the bed flat on the floor or if the bed isn't being used, just pick it up for a bit.  Also block off behind all other furniture in the room.  You do not want her hiding.

Yet, you can give her a safe place to be.  This can be in a hiding box of a cat tree, or even an old cardboard box with a cozy towel or blanket.  She needs to feel safe, but if you allow her to hide under furniture it will make it more difficult to work on socialization.

How is she doing with your other cats?  Yes, it can be a worry that she may spread illnesses to them.  Be careful that they are not fighting as you do not want her to bite or scratch your kitties.  Is there a way to put your kitties in a separate space if you can't get the new one into a separate space?  Also be careful with the litter box.  SHe may have worms or parasites that can easily be transmitted to your kitties.  You will want to get them all wormed.

It is best to work with her in a 1:1 environment without any other cats around.  SIt quietly on the floor so that you are not looming over her.  It's great that she wants to play.  For now just do it 1:1 without the other cats around.  Also food is a great motivator.  Offer her yummy treat rewards while you are sitting on the floor.  She will learn to associate you with something good.

Thank you for rescuing her.  You might look for a low cost spay/neuter clinic in your area.  They often exist and are much cheaper than a regular vet.  Yet do get her there ASAP.

For the past 2 decades I've taken stray, feral, and shelter cats into my home with other cats prior to getting them tested for FIV and FelV ("SNAP" test ) and have never had a problem. I've only begun getting cats tested the past few years to be on the absolute safe side. The truth is that FIV and FelV are extremely rare in cats, even in outdoor cats, so the risks of your new cat having it are low. It's far more likely that your new cat will bring in fleas or parasites than any serious disease, so I suggest you order some Frontline from Amazon (which is a third the cost of purchasing it at a pet store or from a vet) and ask your vet to prescribe a dose of Drontal to put in her food (it costs about 6 dollars a tab). Chances are that if she looks healthy and acts healthy, she is healthy. I'm glad you're taking her to the vet soon, but in the mean time try no to worry too much.
