Happy Friday all.  Today I got home and my pet insurance claim checks were here less than 3 weeks after I filed the claims.

I've posted about pet insurance before (link below).  I have a high deductible policy, it's very reasonable, less than $10 per month with Embrace.

I've had at least half a dozen people told me that pet insurance isn't worth it, I disagree.  What isn't worth it is the agony of trying to figure out if the cost of treating your pet is worth it, or putting your finances at risk because you can't bear the thought of not treating them.  It doesn't take much to run up a $1,000 bill, especially at an emergency clinic.

Here's the original post.

I agree, everyone needs to look into this. I had my baby at the specialty vets 3 times in one year. It was the best thing i have ever purchased. I never had to worry how i was going to pay for these visits and hospital stays. I went with Petsbest insurance, but there are many out there to chose from. Do your research for which one is best for you

I think it would be worth it if gotten as soon as possible for a younger kitty.

Unfortunately, I got mine for an adult cat. Now, when I am at the point where I really need the insurance, they said it was all pre-existing, because I took my kitty to the Vet so often and so soon after applying for the insurance. I adopted an 8 year old cat.

No specific companies are mentioned by me. I had to cancel the policy.

That is how I feel about them.. They are great as long as they cover things when you need them. Horrible to deal with if there is a question...

Just my opinion...

I 100% agree - pet insurance is so so worth it. Part of the contract with our breeders when getting our kittens was that we have them insured (they even arranged the insurance before the kittens went home in our name). And boy am I glad we got it - our cats are covered for 50,000SEK per year (each) and within the last year we had to use all of it with one of our cats. His vet bills ended up probably over 100,000SEK (and still going with expensive medication), but at least the insurance covered a huge chunk of that. The vet even bills the insurance directly in our case. It's been such a life saver. Literally.

The way mine works, is that you pay your vet and then submit a claim with you insurance company and they will reimburse you, minus your deductible and possibly a co pay if you have one.  You get to choose your deductible and your copay. Just like human insurance, the higher the deductible the lower the premium
