I was just searching the threads to see if there was much discussion about the treat recall by Blue Buffalo.  Was surprised to see all the threads about previous recalls.

I didn't much care for the company's response:

“The FDA tested product in response to a single consumer complaint and found propylene glycol in one bag of cat treats in the affected lot,” the release adds. “To date we have had no other reports of incidents related to our cat treats. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is voluntarily recalling all product manufactured in the same lot as the subject bag.” - See more at: http://swtimes.com/news/blue-buffalo-cat-treats-recalled#sthash.SmsY7Cx2.dpuf

B*D - Most people wouldn't even know to complain to the FDA and, if the amount is so low, their cat wouldn't have consumed enough to make them ill.  Then again, I had a kitten consume a whole bag when he figured out how to open the file drawer.

I would think, that the response would be to look into the mfg problem at the source and/or test the current lots.

It's odd, Chewy has had the 5.5 oz. cans of limited ingredient selling for nearly the same price as the 3 oz cans.  I can never figure this out, perhaps the 5.5 oz cans just don't sell and they are trying to get rid of the inventory.

I feed the blue buffalo LID and the dry as well.  Looks like I'll be looking for another food.  I'm really not up for grudging recalls.  For pete's sake, they're selling a premium quality product and whining - either by blaming the customer or their supplier.

Interesting. Reading their response I wonder if maybe one cat got ill enough to complain, so maybe there was a local source of contamination with propylene glycol in that cat's home? How it got into the bag would be a mystery, indeed, but if this was a factory manufacturing issue, you'd expect to find more in other bags of the same lot?
