I have been feeding "Gus the Cat" Natures Variety Limited Ingredient canned food. I am feeding him the dog version (for cost reasons) of the lamb and duck after calling Natures Variety and was told the dog and cat versions are the exact same formula and both contained the same amount of taurine. Gus suffers from allergies and was on Hill's ZD for a long time but I wanted a better food for him and the NV has worked out well..
I wanted to add another flavor to his diet and tried the rabbit (cat version) from Natures Variety but he doesn't really like it.
I now want to try the limited ingredient pork version of NV but the only place that carried it was Chewy and it is no longer shown on their website.
They do carry the dog version but taurine is not listed in the ingredients.
Now my question - If I try the dog version and add taurine to this food would there be any negatives to this approach? Also, how much taurine should I add to a 5.5 oz can. I have 500 mg taurine capsules in the house.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
