Hey guys, new to the forum but I've been searching it for info since I got my kitten (Archer) 4 mos ago. And so I just had him neutered on Monday (4th day).

Anyway, just wanted to ask, how would I know if He's healing properly? No discharge or blood or anything. Seems like some bruising only. He seems to be eating n pooping n such. Is it alright to let him roam my room as he's been confined to my bathroom since Monday afternoon, or should I let him heal more in case he jumps around in my room? Is it just me who feels bad seeing him alone with the cone of shame? Hehe. Or is it better in the long run? I'll try to take pics later when I get home of the area. Thanks in advance! He's my first pet so I'm pretty worried and paranoid hehe

He's probably fine to roam and to take the cone off.  Boys recover quickly from this procedure!

Does it look normal? i tried tapping it with a wet cotton ball and nothing transferred. so are they just bruises that will heal?

thanks

He looks fine to me. I think you can take the cone off too. The cone is mainly there to stop cats licking too much, but as there are no stitches that can be pulled out in this case he doesn't need the cone.

so the dark areas are probably just bruising? i let him roam a bit, he seemed to be more cautious when jumping onto my bed (my bed isnt that high). so no prob you dont think even if he licks/grooms that area? thanks!

heres Archer btw, in case anyone was wondering :)

It looks to me like he hasn't been able to clean himself properly after using his litter box. A bit of grooming would be a good thing I think. If he is still wearing the cone it will be difficult for him to jump on to and off of your bed as he won't be able to see as well as usual.

None of my cats needed a cone after they'd been neutered, boys get over it so quickly. It's a very simple operation for them.

He's a real cutie, is he a Scottish Fold?

yeah, he hasnt been able to groom himself... he tries hehe. so you think based on the pics, even if he were to lick that area, it would be alright?

Yes.  Take it off.

That doesn't look like bruising, which you wouldn't be able to see through the fur.  It looks like he needs to clean himself.
