Hello,

I was wondering if someone can help me identify what the issue is with my kitty. As shown in the pictures below she has a dark spot that seems to be scabbing over. Normally her nose was all white. This happened about two weeks ago and it slowly got darker and darker and then the dark scab looking like spot in the middle showed up. I did try using a skin cream on the nose that I previously used on her chin for her chin acne but it didn't seem to help. I may try using some antibacterial wipes I have specifically for cats in case it is some sort of an infection.

A little bit of background info, we did recently move her to a new home, and this issue did start appearing shortly after. I was thinking it may have been stress related but she's been settling in nicely now. Also the place did have a significant amount of renovation done prior to us moving so the other thing I could think of is maybe she's allergic to something in the air. Although for that I'd expect to see her sneezing more often but she does not. In fact she seems to be acting the exact same way as always with no strange or new behavior. Touching the spot doesn't seem to be painful as she doesn't react to it.

I was hoping to avoid the vet as that is a pretty traumatic event for her and I didn't want to do it so soon given her recent home change as that already put a great deal of stress on her. I did have an annual check up done about 5 months prior and everything was fine then.

If anyone is aware of what this might be or a possible treatment it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

I don't know what it is, but it doesn't look good.  Can you consider a house call vet?

Thanks for looking into it! I was trying to rub her nose with an antibacterial cloth I have for pets (in case it was infected) and the black looking dot actually fell off just like a scab (I had barely touched it when it fell off). That made me think that maybe some of the brown looking area around there may have been dried blood and when I washed her nose with a wet cloth it looked like it cleaned some of it up. Now it appears like a pimple underneath the fur, looks like a red bump. Although touching it there's no blood or anything oozing out like puss nor does it seem like she's in pain as she doesn't move her head away.

House call may not be the best for her as she runs and hides from anyone entering the home that she doesn't recognize (she's terrified of everything as per the shelter I adopted her from she was abused by other animals in her prior home). But I'll try to get my vet to take a picture of her and if they can diagnose it for me over the phone, at least tell me if it's something I can take care of here or if I have to drag her out there.

I appreciate all the help, if anyone happens to have any other ideas as to what it may be please let me know!

Thank You!

Here is how it's looking now after I washed it with a wet cloth.

What was the diagnosis? My cat has a few of these spots on her nose but no scabs. My vet said they were nothing to worry about when I recently had her in on a different matter ( he wasn't too focused on them), but I'd still like to know what they are. Did you take your cat to the vet?
