Enzo has IBD. I've tried him on lamb, turkey, duck, venison. Of those he'll only eat turkey. I'd ideally like to give him another protein and am thinking chicken. I'm fairly certain his IBD is seafood related but I can't be sure. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about giving chicken to a cat with IBD?

It always depends on the cat, which obviously isn't a helpful answer. Mogli has IBD plus can't tolerate chicken or grains at all. Several of the cats at the shelter have food allergies, and most of those can't eat chicken and/or turkey without severe gastrointestinal upset or scratching. Since it's difficult to do elimination trials in a shelter setting, blood allergy tests are done, and so far they've been spot on.

In other words, proceed with caution. Just because Enzo can eat turkey doesn't mean he can eat chicken, but you won't know till you try or have him tested. Have you tried rabbit?

I have tried rabbit. I think like the duck it may be too "gamey" for his finicky taste. The reason I was hoping I could try chicken was because he's been on a basically solely seafood diet for the past 3,years, tuna in particular, which led me to believe the IBD was caused by that and not chicken.

Every cat is different. My IBD cat does just fine with chicken (and duck) but cannot tolerate turkey. It probably couldn't hurt to try a little chicken.
