We are bringing home our Himalayan kitten right before Christmas.  I joined this site (and others) to make sure we are fully prepared for our new baby.  We have 4 kids (ages 16, 14, 8 & 5) and a 7 yr old Yorkie.

Hi and welcome to TCS!

Is your new kitten a girl or boy?  Do you have a name yet?

Welcome to the cat site, and congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Please let us know how we can help to make sure you are prepared.  :D

Have all members of the human family met the new kitten and/or spent time around cats before to make certain no one is allergic?

How does your yorkie get along with cats?  have you had another pet at the sametime as your Yorkie before?

Do you have a name picked out yet?

Our kids have all been around cats many times at relative & friends houses and nobody is allergic.  Our Yorkie is a very sweet, calm little girl which isn't always the case with this breed ;)  She has been around dogs & cats at the groomers (we board her at this same location) and loves to play with my aunt's dog.  She is always the one to lay down, roll to her back and let other animals come to her.  We do plan on introducing the kitten slowly to Izzy in a controlled environment.  We are not sure yet if we are bringing home a male or female.  We wanted a female but 2 of the 3 are spoken for already.  We are planning on Sebastian or Stella depending on sex.

These should include:-
Pedigree papers
Registration papers
Show/breed quality, papers showing if he/she is on a active breeding list or not
2x full health care checks by the vet document
Vaccination documents
Microchipping documents
Gene testing documents either for the kitten or from both parents of each kitten

Make sure you also ask for a receipt for the purchase of your kitten with all of the breeder's contact information on it.

Thank you so much!  We had a bad experience when we purchased our Yorkie.  She got very sick when she was 4 months old due to a liver shunt.  Luckily they were able to repair it at a University close to us.  It was a very expensive surgery but well worth the cost to save her.  We contacted the breeder to let them know as our vet said the mother shouldn't be bred anymore.  They wouldn't return our calls.
