My cat, Apollo is an indoor and outdoor cat. He's been mainly indoor the past two days since he had gotten scared up a tree by another cat during the darker hours. The branch he was on ended up breaking-it was about a 7-8 foot fall. The ground was soft since it had rained earlier in the day. I took him inside and manually checked his legs and pupils. He wasn't showing any signs of stress or being hurt.

The past few nights he's been acting pretty strange. He's been hissing at things that aren't there. He bit me the other day when he was laying on my arms-he was unprovoked, since I was asleep and wasn't petting him. It didn't draw blood, but he doesn't bite or scratch unless he feels threaten or, of course, if he and I are playing.

He's about 3 years old, and I have had him over six months now. He's eating, drinking and using the bathroom regularly, and everything seems normal except for his behavior, which has just started the day after he fell.

He is showing signs of being in pain. That is a big fall. If you fell that far, it would really hurt and maybe even break a bone. A cat falling that far is going to at least have soreness/bruising, if not something more serious. I would take him to the vet asap and explain what happened. Clearly, something is wrong.

Did you see him land? It sounds like maybe he could of hit his head. I would take him to the vet to be checked out just to make sure there's nothing going on that you can't see.

I had thought so, but people told me he was fine. I'm glad I ended up getting a second opinion! I'm going to call the vet in just a bit.

I did see him land. He hadn't hit his head on anything, and landed on his feet (kind of, when falling from a height like that, I'm guessing, it's tougher than just falling from a bed or something). I still double checked his head for any noticeable bumps and wounds, and didn't find anything. I will be calling the local vet in just a minute.

Im glad. Please keep us updated. I hope he is ok.
Will do! Thank you and everyone else for your reply. He's my baby, and I don't like seeing him hurt. I've been so worrisome over this.

Any update?
Sorry for the late update! I took my cat to the vet, and he's not hurt! I kept him inside for a few more days just to monitor his activity and how he acted. He's doing perfectly fine now and is allowed back outside! The vet said it was most likely him being scared after falling from the tree, so until he felt comfortable again he may act a bit strange. He's back to normal now!

The cat that scared him up the tree has also stopped coming around where I live, so he's much happier about that. Even though nothing was wrong, I'm glad he's okay and I got a second opinion, and took him to the feet. Thank you all again for your words of wisdom and help!
