Long story short we just found out today that my 13 year old siamese has a tumor in his ear. They are suspicious it is malignant and are sending me to a surgeon on Friday for a consult. I've been doing research and noting that for this cancer they always recommend very aggressive treatment, such as a total ear canal ablation. He has been wearing a cone for the last month wile we were doing tests because the tumor is so sensitive that when he touches it it bleeds. I can tell it is causing him a lot of pain... But I have a baby on the way and after all the testing and meds I can barely afford the $150 consult. I have been putting everything on a CareCredit card, so thats not an option... I know I need to wait for the surgeon but I also know I just won't have the money... I can't just let him stay like this... I don't know what to do...

Basically I'm asking what you would do if your most beloved cat needs a 3,000 surgery and you didn't have the money, but he also couldn't really live without a cone or he would shred his ear... He is a little lethargic, but still has some energy and eats just fine. He even plays sometimes. But I can tell he is miserable in the cone... I can't even give him a break from it to clean himself, because he goes right for his ear.

Thank you so much for the info. We saw the surgeon today and do in-fact need the $3,000 surgery to basically have his ear removed. I started a gofundme and will check out the other resources you posted. And yes, that's him :) Thank you.

I'm sorry it's as bad as you suspected, but at least you know what you're dealing with now.

Keep us posted on how things progress.
