Do fluid therapy supplies really expire?

So I had a crf kitty a few years ago and I stocked up on needles and iv tubing sets. I kept them and have had them stored and sealed for 5 years. I have started giving sub q fluids to another kitty and was wondering if it would be safe to use the old stock. The needles say they had an expiry date of sept 2014. Would they be ok to use? There's no expiry date on the iv tubing.

Honestly, I would consult a veterinarian. Fluid therapy can be a life saving procedure and better to be safe than sorry.

I am giving MY current CRF cat fluids using old stock from my previous CRF cat.   Our Vet Tech mentioned that the IV set-ups might be expired and I should probably check.  I asked what would be the issue if they were expired and she said the tubing might get brittle, etc. and spring a leak.  If so,then we would lose the bag of fluids attached to it.

Of course, if the fluids are expired, i won't use them!

I just asked my hubby (a retired ER nurse) if  he could think of any issues using expired needles, since ours are expired too!! (I never thought to look until your post
)  I said he thought as long as they were still sealed they should still be okay.  One man's opinion.
